Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

6 minutes

So we can clock out no more than six minutes after our scheduled shift end. I wonder how much time will be wasted getting managers to fix it every time we are held over by a customer. I am pretty sure this will cost Lowe's much more than it saves. It takes twenty minutes just to find a manager to fix it.

Lowes’ managers get a bonus at the end of the year. A big one. For every person they override, they lose some of their bonus. They will gladly let you miss out on your minutes if they can keep their money

The real reason for six minute rule?
Federal law says employees must be paid for every tenth of an hour worked. Less than six minutes, no pay. (Contiguous six minute intervals)
I’m sure Marvin would work you five on six off all day long if he could.

This is the truth behind the six minute rule. The federal government says employees must be paid for every tenth of an hour worked. Less than a tenth and no payment is required. Greedy mofos aren’t they.

They told us if we have to stay late they'll fix it...no need, I will stop mid sentence and walk away. I will not come in early, take a short lunch, stay late... Basically all the things they ask of me now. They can go to hell.

If you actually read the new attendance policy (and I have) then you’ll see that there is nothing in it about punching out late. It states that if you punch in more than six minutes early or late when you start your shift, then you’ll get a red box in Kronos and those can be held against you. But there is nothing stating anything about leaving late. So, if anyone tries to discipline you for it, just ask them to show you the attendance policy. It’s that simple.

What if the manager ask you to stay late. Will that be held against me?

I don't think so, just ask the manager to approve the punch. I don't think they will flag talk to you if you are punching out late. When the 100 days comes, then leaving late would be common. What they should do is red box you if you are an hour punching out late because they should anticipate you being late.

Lowe’s Prison! It is all about total control at work. And at home. 1 reprieve weekend off every 8 weeks. Brilliant Marvin. How about a little Employee Centric? Employees pay dividends to their companies when they are honored not hedge fund abused.

Get in good with the right manager, and you wont have any red boxes. I dont believe for one minute that anything will stop the preferential treatment of certain associates by management, its what Lowes is known for. Become a brownnoser and you will go far in Lowes.

All the specialists do that at my store; take their last break 15 minutes before the end of their shift.

Oh yeah don't forget your safety app!!! Go to the back 20 minutes before you're off and grab a phone and sit in the training room doing quizzes. Get neighboring departments all on the same page.
Have a lowes safe day!

Since we don't have time to take breaks anyways I will be taking my break the last 15 minutes of my shift. I will not be tracking down mods to fix ANYTHING.
Also clocking in 5 minutes early for shift and lunch and staying 5 minutes late to take an hour off a long shift as 8 hours is the max for my feet. I'll take a red box once a week to leave an hour "early".
I also plan to take my first break right before lunch now, especially during the hundred days, as in the summer everyone usually takes an extra 10 minutes on lunch because it's so stressful.
