Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

OCI Talent Management Mid Check-In

Just recieved an email from OCI HR about a mandatory mid year check in process where managers and employees will talk about their perfomance.
Another round of layoffs on the way?

@11jRN8lZ-2djc I really suggest you look in other places. It is never a good idea to get back with your ex. Oracle is not as it used to be you won't find job security.

Nothing to worry about. This is just another meeting to waste time with your manager. Talk about goals and how one can achieve it. Most likely, this is to tell you that they care about your goals and happiness lol
Basically just to get you engaged more into the job, because they know people are not really happy with Oracle after extensive layoffs

they've been making noises about employee development (at least where I am), and part of that is meeting with your manager and discussing your career goals and how to get there. This isn't necessarily an Oracle thing, the last place I worked did something similar.

I think it's more an attempt to make the employees think that they care about employee development and retention.

Such is the HR and "management" window dressing....they'll use it against you if they can, and certainly anything of actual progress and accomplishment will be ignored when it counts (like at lay-off time). This is one among the dozens of meaningless but "employee-dangerous" practices from Oracle, as they neither care nor in the end does it matter.
I would do the quarterly just to check the box - I would bring real content to the exercise -= it truly didn't matter - we were all laid off anyway. Even "the teacher's pets"!!!

Enough already, do you see ghosts everywhere? You should be having monthly check ins with your manager so a formal reminder for a quarterly is nothing to worry about.

I got the same notice and I'm not in OCI. HR says you should meet with your manager quarterly to discuss goals and progress. I don't think it's anything more than a reminder. The assessment tool has sections for each quarter where you can put in your comments and track. I don't know if it''s mandatory for all groups, but on my team we do it because management says to. Usually just a 1x1 meeting and you describe progress against goals or group initiatives.
