Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Why are we still opening new stores?

The ones we currently have are nothing but glorified customer service. So why do we keep adding to this mess?

I honestly thought the end goal was to get rid of most if not all the stores and switch sales online. Now I don't know what to think anymore.

Then again, this is AT&T, so few things really make sense here.

One word: Shay. No one has the guts to stand up to him and tell him his ideas are dumb. Echo chamber of “yes men” and “yes women” surround him. He’s never had an idea that they don’t just blindly agree with.

They’re always bragging on our weekly calls about the amount of new stores opening, but look closely, most of these locations are small, inexpensive, easy to pop up or take down type stores. Low rent, insides aren’t like the old type stores. I believe the plan is still to close down many original stores, keep high profit and Flagships, and definitely make AR the primary retail locations. Makes sense financially...to the company. Not the people who depend on a paycheck. And yes they’re definitely pushing online sales, and customer care pushes everyone into the stores to fix anything and everything everybody else messes up. I’ve said this before on this board- I’m in retail, don’t prefer to be, but there’s nothing else in my area so until I find something outside the company, I’m just doing my job. Not lying, not scamming people, just a 10 year veteran doing the best I can.
