I interviewed at Oracle in 1988 for their database group but instead took an offer from Sybase. I then joined Oracle in 2000 but left shortly after when Sybase opened a new division. I joined Oracle again in 2013 but was laid off after 3 years due to competition between east coast and west coast groups. I think Oracle was a very exciting company to work for in the previous years but 2013 was so much different. It was sad to see how Oracle progressed. I like Oracle but it was worst experience of my career in 2013.

Oracle no longer values its employees. That's at the root of the problem. Cost-cutting is king, people are sh– on, and the best people leave first.

That's because they did not PROgress...Oracle does nothing but REgress and drag down all those with them, especially those they acquire. They haven't a clue what they are doing, particularly in the hardware business. They buy, they destroy. Good technologies and technologists flushed down the drain.
