What do they do???
I know they look at spread sheets all day and reports, monitoring the numbers...
They visit stores, provide feedback and corrective action...
But what else? Based on what I see, anyone should be able to do that job.

I think some of them only forward emails. Not even asking for help or explanation. Just forward that email.
There was a time when GVP's developed relationships with campus leaders. These bonds accounted for numerous long term partnerships. That commitment was eradicated several years ago when the new big box brain trust devalued Follett employees. This has resulted in the escalation of lost contracts. What a shock. DUH!!
They pass along messages from senior management to RMs; they request data collection during rush that disrupts customer service and sales...they like to blame managers for sales misfortunes; spend our hard earned money buying expensive plane tickets, staying at expensive hotels, renting nice cars, etc., and they earn big salaries, benefits, and get big bonuses for their hard earned efforts.
Gvps never come to the store unless to introduce you to a new rm or jump on the bandwagon when a college is in the playoffs and want to be on TV stepping over the people in the store who made it happen. Hope you can sleep well.
They have conference calls with the bigwigs at HO after rush about how sales didn’t meet plan. On the agenda: who needs to be cut from the stores next.
Not seen a gvp in our store for over 2 years now...so, yeah, must be keeping busy with spreadsheets!
