At least one group is having an HR call today with GVP, HR rep, all RMs and SMs. What’s going on?

This happened to Texas Stores 6 - 7 years ago. Stores doing less than approximately 5m lost text managers, ASMs, and full-time associates. I am surprised that not all stores in the company are treated the same.
Dear Got the Boot and others,
So sorry you are in this position and being treated as such. I, too, had 20+ years. I retired earlier this year after watching the downward spiral. Best wishes to you. On to bigger and better.
I am one of those people. I have been with Follett 20+ years and today I was told I no longer have a job. They are gifting me witha sh–ty severance package. Thanks for nothing.
Today is the day, at least in the northeast, that SMs are having conversations with affected staff about their options. If you’re in that area, you would have had the con call yesterday.
Is today (Wednesday) the day the communication Is coming down to SM as what is going to take place or today the actual day people are getting let go ??
Just trying to plan my morning here......
Layoffs. Coming tomorrow I hear.
In very small stores (under 500k) will the SMs be cut or downgraded to hourly ASMs? That topic has been floating around for awhile now. Especially with the introduction of all the "Multi-Unit" SM and CM roles.
Will we learn more tomorrow? No calls scheduled yet in our group.
I am so happy I got away from that horrible company. I would suggest everyone else do it as quickly as possible. But depending on who you are and where you work, they might do it for you in the next day or two. Good luck!
So restructuring is the theme with positions affected based on new store volume requirements. Meaning if your store falls below a certain threshold then positions like low volume/sales Store Managers, ASM, Ops manager, and even Text Manager can be impacted depending on the reclassification. Information is going out for. Conversation tomorrow. This is not a new practice but it is an adjustment that will result in a lot of anguish. groups and specific stores are a mystery because of the nature of the tasks about to be undertaken.
Does anyone know which group?
It’s awfully quiet...
Yes ! Please give us any information you received. It is far worse to be in the dark
Hopefully people will post here as soon as they know new information. No one else is telling us anything at the store level.
If you are on the call details would be greatly appreciated.
All I can say is this is real. Secrecy like this keeps news controlled and directs action to stores effected. It’s awful. If you weren’t aware about it, it feeds paranoia. My heart goes out to those affected in the aftermath. No matter who, it’s going to be a hard day for those in the field, SM, TM, and yes, RMs. They’re going to bear the worst of it. As for the Tower, I hope those in positions of ‘authority’ get scabies. Yes, Scabies. Scratch scratch.
As someone not invited I can tell you it popped up out of the blue and is entitled ‘HR Update’ which at least is better than ‘Project’ this or that. Now we wait to see who lives and who dies. This isn’t trolling. This is observation
This can’t be anything but layoffs
They need to just man-up and let the employees know what is going on !!!
Everyone is stressed out about this !! Coming into work is like a time bomb, wondering is today the day ???? No time is a good time to get let go, but doing this weeks before the Holidays makes it all the more EVIL in my opinion. Let’s throw money to go to Orlando, let’s throw money for this Book Fair nonsense..... unbelievable. Cold hearted at its truest.
I am wondering the same thing! My guess is layoffs?
