Are people being outsourced allowed to look for new job inside AT&T via Career Path?

No, they aren’t allowed to. Once HR send you the status letter, you’re not allowed or can’t apply to any internal or external job postings. This is true for outsourced AND markets that have been wholly sold to another corporation. For management employees. Not sure for union.

"Being outsourced, they will lose most of the pension."

JFC....nobody is "losing" any of their pension money - the money that shows up in netbenefits is yours, if you're fired, laid off, die, whatever - the money in NB is yours. If you're outsourced, that money is yours - however, whatever NB shows when you leave is all you get, once you're gone, the company doesn't contribute to your account any longer because you don't work for the company anymore.

STFU about this.

If you barely make Rule of 75 you can’t retire on the small monthly pension amount unless you have other means. Goto your fidelity account and do the pension calculations for your situation

@11W5rAWC-hat. How old are you? If you are the correct age, you should have take TLOA, to bridge you over to 20 years and the full pension. I did. I will be fully retired, with twenty years, in December. It worked for me.

No, unless you have connections, I know someone who had strings pulled for them.

So the answer to this question is that you can’t apply for jobs on career path after being outsourced. If you already applied for a job before the sourcing announcement they allow you to take that job if you get an offer before the contract start date but that’s very unlikely to happen.

I was hired in 2000 by SBC. I got surplus this year with 19 years service. I lost 80% of my pension without meeting the rule MR75.

"If you want to see how much they are ripping you off for, project your pension lump sum with off payroll date the day before rule of 75 and the day after. For people hired into SBC or Pacific Bell, the difference can be 2 to 3 times...."

I was hired in 94 SBMS (Southwestern Bell Mobile Systems), then onto Cingular, etc. There is no appreciable difference before and after MR75 (which I recently hit) in my pension amount.

Sorry meant without any subsidy. As others have posted, retiree eligibility and subsidy are different things and those are the terms you want to use when you talk to Fidelity and Hewitt.

People who are being rebadged or surplused due to outsourcing can use the management transition plan (MTP) if they are within 24 months of rule of MR75 for either age or years of service. This is for benefits only; it won't help with pension.

If you want to see how much they are ripping you off for, project your pension lump sum with off payroll date the day before rule of 75 and the day after. For people hired into SBC or Pacific Bell, the difference can be 2 to 3 times.

Please check the management severance plan at hronestop. Depending on your original hire company, you may be eligible to buy health insurance at the company rate only with any subsidy. The company plans have different copays and out of pockets than the marketplace or federal ACA site, even if the insurance company and metal level is the same. It's a good idea to read the severance plan in detail and check it every few months.

Good luck.

This is critical for people who will meet MR75 very soon. Being outsourced, they will lose most of the pension.

At this point why would you. Tons of jobs out there where you can work and not here the term layoffs of surplus for years. Left years ago and it is great to get caught up in my work again without hearing layoffs or surplus or who is the latest company we bought. No drama just innovation and work.
