Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

Censorship?!?!?!

Been seeing some topics show up, disappear, show up again with a different title and then disappear again. What is going on? Looks like censorship

Well hopefully this doesn’t get censored..... I saw a lot of posts regarding injuries getting removed. I’m not condoning purposely getting injured on the job, but if you do unintentionally get hurt on the job be very careful with your statements. Management is force fed to blame all injuries on a rule violation and will twist anything you say into an admission of guilt. Be very wise in what you state and do not alter it when asked multiple times. Also especially if it’s on a piece of equipment like the lead locomotive on a outbound train, make it clear that there is a safety hazard present. With all the cuts maintenance is being neglected and management may just let it “make a trip”. Follow up with the FRA if you need to to make them responsible if they do that.

I’m probably waisting my breath saying this, but here it goes anyways - make your posts kosher, don’t give them a reason to ask for a post being pulled just because it contained an insult or a curse

Good, let them read, maybe they learn something. Under the law, we have a right to discuss working conditions. So unless something illegal, libelous or a trade secret is posted, they can’t do anything about it, except to read.

Unfortunately, no doubt about it, NS has people looking at this forum. It’s like the second thing that appears when you search “Norfolk Southern cuts”. You literally have a team of people to send at a daily Whistle Post email, they have people looking at this.

Googled “censorship” and this site, found this page, about what gets nuked here:
https://www.thelayoff.com/h/censoring
This post sticks out (posted originally on Enbridge forum board here):

I've been on the site for a while now and here is my observation on what kind of posts mods/admins delete:

  • Foul language (a big no-no)
  • Defamation
  • Racism
  • Anything that has personal info
  • Using names excluding public figures like PR, Comms, Board and C-Level)
  • Unsupported negative posts (e.g., you will all be laid off, ford engineers are not competent, etc)
  • Trolling (they axe this sometimes, I've seen some troll posts survive but they typically nix it)
  • References to violence and sgurd (read this in reverse, I don't want to be tagged as pitching it here, merely trying to avoid being blocked)

I could be wrong, but have noticed that a lot of recent post were signed with names that sound real. I think we have a group of people who think impersonating others/f-ing around with other other people’s names is funny. Mods obviously thought differently.

Not surprised, it’s an anonymous forum and anonymity works both ways. On one hand, you are allowed to post anonymously, but on the other, you are not allowed to reveal other people’s identities (unless the people you are talking about are already public figures like CEOs).

Yes the "Take a fall" threads mysteriously vanished. Some good advice in those threads.

I’ve noticed that as well that’s why I believe there’s a lot of company involvement on boards
