Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

Not looking forward to the following weeks

How long will we have to wait before we know any details on what's going to happen? We are all well aware that major layoffs are coming and the whole wait will only make it worse on us. I'm already stressing more than I did yesterday and I know it'll only increase.

As I said, I'm really not looking forward to the next few weeks.

Almost 11 years I worked there and the last few really were not fun but I was making too much money to just walk away. They walked me away and I’m a happier person today. You will find another job if you try hard enough.

I’m glad I’m out of there. Put in 13 years and was great until it became Chesadarko. They didn’t give a c-ap what you did or how much money you saved them. I was at the upper tier of my pay grade and making more than my boss and I was older than the status quo. That made me easy pickings. Believe me, the lack of stress of being there and all the drama is not missed.

To those worker bees who are worried about losing your job: I promise that life outside chk is much, much better. Companies will start hiring in the new year. Do what you have to do to get through the day (and do the bare minimum). Lean on your work friends. Vent on this board. And if it’s your time to go, it won’t be nearly as scary as you think.
And hopefully you can take solace in seeing some toxic managers get canned too. Hopefully!

Guys we are not dead yet. Its not a pretty picture, that's a train at the end of the tunnel. But we have at least 6 months. Credit revolver was reaffirmed for 6months and our cash position is tiny.

Honestly this is what we need. We need some sort of big move to make changes and becuase we have been status quo for years. The market tumble could put us in a great position to be bought out or to buy back debt for pennies on the dollar.

Change is good!

Right there with you. All wondering when our group will be hit. Really hard to focus.

If we’re truly going down, they should let the decent folks go and let the BPs of the world ride the bomb into the ground like Slim Pickens.

Good luck, there are no O&G jobs in Oklahoma. It is rough out here, took months to find a position. I was glad to take my $$ and run. Little Anadarko CHK is on her deathbed, The board let DL take it to the ditch with his buddies, but he does not give a c-ap, he has his money. It is sad but the great gal will soon be no longer. There is a group of folks who need to go. BP should be on the top of the list, he is an id–t.

Be excited for the possibility of change. Severance deal would be neat, plus, do you really enjoy working here so much that you hope you always do?

Chances are, nobody working here now will retire from here... so, when is your out? Better sooner than later, I say. This could be an opportunity.
