Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Where to apply after Humana?

I got the boot yesterday after 6 years at the company. I’m trying to keep my spirits up, despite everything and I’ve already mentally switched to job searching mode. I know it’s not going to be easy, but it’s not impossible either. With searching for a job on my mind, I was looking for some tips from people that have been laid off earlier, on where it’s best to apply for a new job. Is it smarter ho “hit” the competing companies first, or would a better option be to try to move out of this business entirely?

I was booted. My husband and myself have invested in property for flip and and rental. We're doing very well. However, you need building and real estate know how to make this work. I would get out of health care completely

I left HAH voluntarily after 8 years. Used indeed.com and made more money and have less stress. Also I’m 60+. Humana skills made me very marketable and for that I’m appreciative. SO good to be free and sleeping like a baby at nite😁

Hospitals also love nurses with insurance CM experience. Not everyone wants to go back to the hospital, but you can usually get Monday through Friday with a good salary

Take a look at the competing companies on this web site before you apply anywhere. Seems that many of them are going through the same process. Choose wisely. Bigger companies have nothing to lose from a RIF but everything to gain. The stock goes up when they cut staff. More money for the grubbing b–tards.

It make sense to apply to companies in the same field since you have that knowledge and experience already...better chances of getting hired than at a non related company..

I know from experience when I was Laid Off from Medco...I applied and got the job at Humana

Really sorry to hear. Hang in there! I went through a layoff at another company during the 2008 recession. At the time I felt like it was going to destroy me, but it turned out to be one of the best things to ever happen to me after I made a transition to a new role and career. Life's funny like that.

Focus on careers and roles where your passion lies and stay optimistic. Good luck and God bless!

Healthcare right now is not very stable but the population is aging and there is a great demand. I would look anywhere there are options.
