Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Truists - Keep Positive Attitude

Have to keep the enthusiastic positive attitude. No one knows how this will pan out, but I can only speak for the BB&T side and say we have amazing workers who have done a lot with nothing. When we look at our counterparts at SunTrust, we are amazed at the 4-1 ratio of SunTrust to BB&T associates doing the same job function.

Our CFO is pretty tight with the spending and I hope there will be a balance with Truist. I do anticipate lay-offs once we transition more to Truist and sunset our legacy brands.

I am going to continue to work hard and show my value. Track savings and build a strong case. Hard to argue with that.

Truist is but and will not be altruistic as they layoff associates and teammates. They have to save $1.6B annually by 2022 & $800mm in 2020 (50% of the $1.6B). They will assign you to a dead end job in hopes you leave so they will not have to pay severance. Privately in the executive offices they are stating they will easily exceed the $1.6B in annual savings.

Hey, I hope you're right. After 25 years and all my PDPs exceeded expectations, my boss flew in unannounced and gave me my severance package an exited my office 10 minutes later without a thank you or good luck. It will be hard for my to believe this is a good thing. I tell you one thing, I'm way better off now away from them.

BB&T employee here. Our department is the same. We are amazed at how many suntrust people are in our equivalent department there.

Good for you, I hope your plan works out for you. But beware I've already seen 10 people just like you get canned in the past 2 months that had a "strong case". Truly hope you don't end up like them but u don't know a single sole who's genuinely ethustiastic about this or has and positive feelings about this at all. Best of luck!

wait what? 4 to 1 ratio of ppl doing the same job? SunTrust has 23K employees, BB&T has 36K, so it's actually 0.63 to 1 ratio overall.
