I said this as soon as Oracle got into "The Cloud Wars" that you can't compete with company the likes of Amazon who can literally buy your company.

no, it isnt. if anything microsoft will buy oracle. 100% of oracle's customers would rejoice if microsoft bought oracle. you get to keep the database and throw everything else out.

Why would anyone buy oracle? They can sit back and just take the customers.

Really good point. No company needs to buy Oracle to get their customer base. Customers are already fleeing. They would just keep everything the same. Oracle will destroy itself, no need to do anything.

More likely Microsoft. LE and BG are tennis buds. Microsoft has kludgy app suites. Are cloud partners with O. But most of O gets the axe.

Pipe dreams. They dont want or need your dwindling customers or legacy products.

Not to mention there oracle is a bloated legacy company.

If it happen, will we get Amazon prime as benefit?

No, you will get unlimited vacation with no other benefits.

I agree with many of the posts. Could be LE pushing the idea to see what kind of feedback occurs.

I am sure that O would be overvalued. Looking at the list of apps and assigning value doesn't really work, as most of the stuff is c-ap, but they won't point that out on the balance sheet.

If O is bought, it's absolutely guaranteed that there will be massive layoffs not long after. Put normal, responsible management at the top of Oracle and they will go through everything and really determine who should stay and who should go. Most will go. People are allowed to hang at Oracle even when they are producing no results. Management is in on the scam, so they don't clean anything up.

Doesn’t Forbes have a lot of paid PR-type pieces? This reads like one of LE’s paid writers floating a trial balloon.

That would say that LE has given up and is looking for a buyer.

Not to mention how completely over-valued O is. Would be a huge waste of money. Forget about it!

Would be a convenient end to LE’s problems and an easy way for him to cash out, but not very likely. If JB wants to go into the apps business there are many, much better acquisition to be had, none of which bring with them the inflated ego of LE.

It will have to go through LE's enormous ego first.

Throwing darts approach to journalism. They are working off the list noted below - there is about 20 possible merger combinations in the current Cloud Wars and they cover each of them at least once a year. So, 52 issues per year, each topic gets to be covered once. No matter what happens, Forbes would have predicted the outcome of the cloud wars, right?

  • Oracle to merge with SAP
  • Oracle to merge with Salesforce
  • Oracle to merge with Microsoft
  • Oracle to merge with IBM
  • Oracle to merge with Google
  • Oracle to merge with Amazon
  • Google to merge with SAP

More likely that Google would be the acquirer. Primary goal being enterprise apps, to compete with Microsoft. And giving TK more stuff to micro-manage. Again.

Must have been a slow news day. Or maybe we should wonder about Forbes. Why would Amazon want to merge with or even buy Oracle when it just removed the last Oracle databases from its own systems? To great fanfare too, I might add.

If they bought the company, they'd probably just take whatever pieces they want then gut the rest. Then this board will REALLY be hoppin'!
