Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

GM is hiring still, even with the strike.

Slowly hiring, even contract folks again.
How many of you feel that this zero EV movement is more politically driven than actual ?
My thought is we will have both ICE and electric offerings at the same time for decades to come. More of a wide range of product choice and NOT all electric like Mary's Ludacris " vision". As seen in the used car business over the summer, people don't seem to eager to go new anymore, the cost associated isn't feasible for not only younger folks but most folks and it's becoming more apparent, so! I guess my point is, won't electric vehicles be expensive and who is the target audience/buyer going to be? If I was the CEO I wouldn't have alienated customers both old and potentially new by saying all electric! Offer a little bit of everything and slowly transition into market demand, Mary's must learn to govern her passion's. She's way heavy handed with politician's and not an automotive leader. GM needs a big picture CEO and I don't think that will ever happen. The electric tech has always been there, Ex. Baker cars, that tech is 100 years old, I think the Chevy Volt was a winner and a great step, my only wish is that GM would just focus on the customer instead of forcing what they think we should drive propulsion wise.

Agenda indeed. These car companies are players on a stage greater than themselves.

And yes they are hiring again. Myself, along with a few others are getting called for positions aggressively. As soon as I hear the message "for a big company located in xxxxxx" - delete.

They were too eager to kick me out and into the arms of a better paying, and more enjoyable company. When a few companies were simultaneously competing for me, I knew I had been at GM too long, and tried too hard working for that behemoth. It's actually the outside that is more enjoyable. So, never again.

And, it solidifies why my sphere of influence and I, don't buy GM.
