Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Go work for their competitors!

I was there 12 years and when optimization plans came out last summer, I saw the writing on the wall. Everyone assured me it would be ok but I saw right through the lies. I left and now am thankful I did but now hearing this happen to many friends who have 30 plus years in is just heartbreaking. They are a terrible company. Yes, things are changing but there is a better way to deal with it. Hire fewer people, offer early retirements, close some branches and transfer the remaining staff to other locations so one place could have a full staff. Instead they open a position and have some new person start who knows nothing and the next day lay off the person who has given them years of loyalty and commitment. I also know so many who worked years to try and get promotions and now all that was likely for nothing. I know they told everyone there would be many new opportunities but it was just spin. Instead, that’s probably why they are keeping some of the operational non customer roles in place. That way they can close branches and have those people clean up the messes before they let them go as well. I regret ever having worked for the bank. Get out while you can- go work for their competitors and help put a dent in the wallets of those making the heartless decisions.

I worked for US Bank as a BM for over a year. I saw the writing on the wall this summer and it’s so sad. The ABM and BM don’t have time to get any operational duties done because we were had to be in the teller line and help be a banker and open accounts/loans! They are trying to cut cost and don’t care about any employees. The DM’s have no idea of what issues the branches are facing because they won’t come spend a day helping the branch. Get out while you can other banks will treat you much better and they have a much better benefit packet and you’ll actually get to take a lunch break treated with respect and have a work life balance!
