Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Things are not going good at US Bank

US Bank has a new and changed culture. The things started changing rather rapidly after Richard Davis left US Bank. The bank changed from a people centered company profit and only profit making machine, each employee became a number…. Look around and tell me how do you feel about the CEO, do you think them at the C-Level care, how about the managing committee – do they care about you, about the little guy somewhere in the trenches facing customers. No, you are just a number for US Bank and they’ve proven this today.

Our Community/Retail banking is not cool – it though to work there now we are so pressured its not even funny. They are cutting staff, they are laying people off, they are cutting hours - branches are expected to run short staffed with this round of layoffs and the "hiring freeze" that has been going on for several years now. My folks are simply burned out – people are starting to break as there is so much pressure at US Bank now… Plus this demoralizing (at best) layoff, this culling of people that do not deserve it… My people tell me that they fear taking time off as they are afraid that that may adversely affect them, they will not have time to catch up, they will be laid off…

Finally, the technology… OMG… How many systems and projects we need to roll out – no training, poor systems, bugs, performance issues, people do not know what’s going on – it’ chaotic at US Bank IT – chaotic at best, I have other words to describe this but will not as I do not want to offend anyone. The company does not roll out projects or systems in an organized fashion. Agile or Rapid Development and rollouts are just synonyms for incompetence – why do you need to do it fast if you will fail – I do not care for things to be fast, I want them to work. They are moving too quickly, any IT project in last 5 years was rushed. Then, they not test them for performance, once we all start using the solutions, systems slow down so based they become hard to use, some cannot be used at all. Is that US Bank way of doing things nowadays? Half-baked IT Project? OMG!!!

Finally layoffs this week... I am telling you this will never stop – they will want to cut their way to profitability and that will not work. They will cut more branches and more people will be laid off by US Bank. So, get ready, this winter will be a long one!

People do not understand how Agile projects work. Those of you looking from the outside should research some agile methodologies. I agree that the layoffs are ridiculous, and I also agree that the IT projects should not be rolled out until the issues have been fixed. There are other methodologies that can increase the productivity of their IT projects. Internally US Bank needs to reevaluate its approach to project management.

Most tellers are sitting around making $15 an hour doing less than 10 transactions in that hour. Doesn’t make sense to pay a person $15 an hour to check Facebook and play candy crush.

@iom - 'Is that even legal?'
Yes, it's legal. Not cool, shortsighted, but legal

Yup true. Just heard that Us Bank @ the East Bay District has been laying off employees. No more full time tellers, Assistant Managers, universal tellers even personal bankers...last day is dec 20, 2019. They are changing titles to justify the lay-off. Is that even legal ?
