Layoff?

Anyone have any real solid evidence of an impending layoff? in any area? just wondering, seems like about the time for it, holidays upcoming, seems it always hits at that time.

Large layoffs have been happening in corporations way before 2008.

Question: if poster 118barSA-5oht is paranoid; why then does it seem that Humana is systemically laying off their employees in perpetuity? Does anyone recall a time within the last 10 years that Humana was not laying off employees? Just some kind of morbid coincidence?? It all goes back to 2008 financial crisis and the Obamacare bail out scheme. Most likely the lay off trend will continue until insurance companies self destruct.

There is a posting on Indeed for care managers. I barely have enough members to call. I am done stressing about layoffs. I will continue to do my job and see what happens. I hope this new model works, but these new members are not answering and I feel like some of the new members are not appropriate for the program. I am getting new members with only pain issues.

5oht, I haven’t noticed it, but wouldn’t be surprised if they do read and make posts here. Would not see it as a layoff sign, and here is why: the job description of every PR position on Earth is monitoring the news and social media and making a rosy picture of the company's future.
If they appear, can just skip it, just like one would do with any other advertorials.

Below poster....seriously paranoid, or what? Do your job, do it well, and you have a better chance of survival, but it’s a business, to make money, so your department may be RIF if it’s not making money.

why on earth would a company even participate in such an id–tically named site as "the lay off" if their ultimate goal wasn't to 'lay off' as much of their work force as possible. Humana, actively participates and monitors this site. they are also very crafty in their employee elimination process so as not to incur massive class action law suits. This why they have engaged the use of Verint application to manage the elimination process. their goal is to systematically rid themselves of as many of their human US work force as possible while attracting minimal attention to themselves. May take them a few years.

There likely won't be one massive layoff. That causes too much bad press. Let 100 people go on one day, it makes the news. Let 1-2 people go for 100 days? No one notices.

Unless of course, a company decides to close a business unit. Then it's one big layoff.

Treat you right with severance over the holidays? It’s a business. The business quarterly calendar doesn’t care about your holiday plans. COBRA would be whatever the total cost is for your insurance. Look at your check. See what Humana pays and what you pay and that’s s good estimate of what it will be

If there are layoffs I pray they will treat us right with a severance especially during the holidays 🙁 also does anyone know how much our Cobra insurance would cost if this happens

those with solid evidence are awaiting promotion and don't want to jeopardize. besides, what's the fun in letting the cat out of the bag? In an ideal world, Humana would choose to lay off entire work force and replace with robots and/or fillipinos. Nothing's perfect.................

Those with "solid evidence" are probably sworn to secrecy with threats of termination. Those departments, programs and people that don't provide savings or don't add clear value are at risk of the chopping block because Humana lays off every year.

There will be “restructuring “, and movement related to that.
