Other companies are spending billions to expand their infrastructure and future-prep their businesses. BBB is still clinging to its “We have to beat Amazon, but we don’t want to spend any money on it” policy. Beyond+ and charge cards aren’t going to save the company when everything else is stuck in the past. We should have offered free 2-day shipping 5 years ago. We should have modernized the stores 15-20 years ago. We should have struck an alliance with Amazon and started using their infrastructure, their trucks, their warehouses, their shipping strengths. We can’t beat them, so let’s join them if we still want to be in business a year from now. Now is the time to choose wisely, because we missed every single one of our opportunities to innovate.
