Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Wage Theft

Call it what it is. The ever-increasing targets and lower payouts. My boss tells me the other day, “We have to work on being more positive about things we can’t change.

Sure, but will positivity pays my rent, my car insurance, and phone bill? Will it pay for my kids’ tuition in 5 years?

How much longer will retail crawl along while only 10% of reps make anything close to what they’re used to?

5G is not our savior, and if you think payouts will increase with the introduction of 5G, you’re mistaken.

Tell me about the terrible advice your boss has given you in the face of dwindling payouts.

Been making fat a– checks ever since the comp plan change last year. I'm up 5k year over year in commissions alone so far this year.

The store has always been ran lean though. Didn't have a stupid amount of reps standing around to pad the quota. Have a buddy in a neighboring store hit wind fall every month.

Sounds like you need to get to f—ing work or fine a different job n

We used to joke on how easy it was to make 80k-100k "selling"wireless. Come on....Wireless is a commodity now..wireless bills are lowering...small stores will be closing in time. If you are in retail, I would suggest to go to another channel. Get different experience. You retail experience is not getting you a top dollar job outside of VZ. Work for an agent as a manager and get $20 an hour. Be a sales rep for an agent and get minimum wage + comp. Either ride it out or get out.

It is happening in every market and the managers are just being dumb about it when asked. Best thing is to be on top of the time sheet every single time, when you see your hours are messed up, email the GM along with the DM and if possible cc the DOS too( I’d cc it to the HR person as well) once that is documented, you’re good & from then they will stop these unethical and illegal activities. Yup, these have to stop. We really need a Union or there’s gonna be no end to it.

I know a few people that check their timesheets every week and have seen it be altered and overtime rep was working was removed or altered which is illegal. Ex: being stuck with a customer ten min past shift, clocking out once finished with customer. Going to check pay and timesheet for that week and seeing where it was adjusted by manager to show they did not work 10 min over that day. Verizon really must want a Major lawsuit. Have seen this happen to a couple different people on different occasions and all I can say is watch your timesheet/paycheck keep track of your time. Take pictures and put notes on your timesheet what time you left and why if you get stuck working longer than your shift. Document everything! It is terrible when you cant trust the company you work for.

It is not wage theft unless you aren't paid what you have earned. You are only legally entitled to the minimum wage in your geographical area. Unless you have a labor contract stipulating pay terms the company can choose to do whatever it wishes as long as it pays minimum wage and follows through with that payment. It is only going to get worse. What where you expecting ?

If the “SM” position isn’t available anywhere or if ur still thinking, that ur messiah DM got ur back, then ur setting “urself” up for failure. You should be rather searching the posts where it talks abt SMs & above being rifd etc. Don’t spill the greed poison here $ let others’ voices, concerns & facts get curbed awide bcz rhe company is simply using all of us.

If you aren't planning on getting a new job you're setting yourself up for failure

It shows the company’s greed. What surprises me is that how the Mgmnt & executive level people are not even feeling a slight pinch bcz their paychecks never see a decline, they continue to make the same or more where as frontline workers always have to feel the pain & misery of the company’s shameful activities on a daily basis. And yet it angers me from within that how come they talk those motivational quotes in their store meetings & sales rallies which make no sense what so ever.
I can guarantee that they’ll be changing the commission structure again for one to literally make no money, but at the same time same above mentioned people get paid really well. Besides, that all they care abt is getting their GGs, Pull through %age up, TMP & ARD. You could be making barely any money but if you’re green in these metrics, ur praised for ur efforts bcz u made them look like Rockstars & got then paid where as if ur at the bottom of the leaderboard( which DOES NOT pay u), theb ur given threats to be coached or written up. Then they wanna document everything the way they like & want us to agree which what they have to say which is illegal, in case one does not feel comfortable with what gets documented about them they have full right not to agree with it, whether its an observation, coaching or anything.
This harassment & job fearing atmosphere really needs to be brought to the HR’s attention.

Verizon is a disgusting and despicable company.

I am not saying they should open up the flood gates with payouts, I am not saying they should not adapt to changing industries, and I am definitely not saying they should make it easy.

But to systematically, across all channels, purposely make people make less than their bills and what they have grown accustomed to making and relying on is horrendous and evil.

Again, could myself and all my peers managed our money a bit better, 10000000% but my mortgage is fixed on making a certain amount, my bills and responsibilities increase with inflation and I cannot make ends meat. Even with belt tightening I am behind, and no hope for catching up and it is causing me great mental stress on myself and my loved ones.

All this while we take in nearly record profits and the revenue curve is back up. Evil
