Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

No Transparency

This was posted to humana twitter account from https://homehealthcarenews.com/2019/07/humana-ceo-home-based-care-key-to-great-health-care-system-%EF%BB%BF/. Below is a portion of the article.

Humana (NYSE: HUM) is leaning even further into the home and its focus on social determinants of health, according to CEO Bruce Broussard.

He hinted that the Louisville-based insurer could be placing even more importance on home- and community-based care in the years to come.

“[With home-based care,] you have this holistic view of the customer, so you can create an intervention based on personal needs, clinical needs and [personal] preferences,” Broussard said. “All of those, I think, will make a great health care system a decade from now.”

So it appears plans are underway for more home health/home based care rather than telephonic. Get your resumes ready because it appears that telephonic RN CM 's are an endangered species.

Nobody thought that HAH was on the endangered species list the minute they bought Kindred?

This is the same shell game as buying up PCP's. It's just moving the money from the right pocket (where it would be Humana profit) into the left pocket (Kindred profit). Up the contract rates, and make it look like the MLR is higher, but you make it up on the back end by owning the provider. I'm sure the metrics on SNF days became less of a priority the day that deal closed.

SNP members receive in home ADL & IADL assistance through Medicaid not Humana. SNP members are assigned a Medicaid Case Worker and visit member in the home to determine needs as well as hours per week are needed, government pays for this service.

You have to qualify for SNP. Low income members do qualify. My roster is really low right now and every one offering to make calls for people,

Below poster, this isn’t accurate. Many members are eligible for in home custodial care, not related to a hospital stay and the PT/OT they can get. It is through the SNP program, I think

Seems that Bruce is gearing-up for enrollment season and new TV adds and infomercials, lots of false ads as most members do not qualify for any extra assistance in the home, only if they return home from hospital visit, then they will send Kindred for in home visits 2-3 times weekly, RN, PT and OT, most likely 30 minute visits for about 6 weeks, Kindred will milk it so that Humana is paid a nice sum of $$$. This is why they bought Kindred. Medicare will eventually take note of how they are taken advantage of and make not only Humana but others as well and look out for the seniors that are in need of great medical care.
