Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Lowes promised its comission sales employees that they would retain 1/2 their comission based on the last year it was given ("for as long as you remained an hourly wage employee.") This was to make up for the loss of hourly wages as most commissioned employees did not get yearly income raises on our base pay because we made comission. Lowes does not do product knowledge classes like they use to. This will leave Lowes with employees that have no experience that at least us older employees had training on products and sales skills. Now they will have people who have no product knowledge just filling orders not helping and educating customers and putting them with a product that will fit their needs. January will be a sad time in Lowes. I have worked for Lowes a long time and have trained and educated many new employees. But it takes years to learn all things. Sales Specialists took a substantial pay cut years ago. Employees stayed because Lowes at least gave an olive branch and acknowledged the employee as a valued asset. I have been the highest Sale person in every store for almost ever year I have worked if not 1st I was 2nd. Lowes is like the Chinese country they promise to let Hong Kong operate separately for 50 years but now are reneging. Please Lowe don't be like the Chinese communist who reneged on the Hong kong guarentee.

You’re way over shooting with 70-90 million dollars. The over-exaggerations I’ve read in regards to recent changes are ridiculous. If your store still has 10 specialists receiving spiffs then that’s an anamoly. Most stores have significantly less then that, and a lot of them aren’t earning that much.

it is all about the mighty dollar .Lowes decided that it is more important to be able to pay their execs millions of dollars per year and the way to get the money is to extract it directly from the pockets of their longest employed hourly employees. My store have approximately 10 employees that are effected for a total of roughly 40 to 50 thousand dollars. Multiply that by roughly 1800 stores, for a rough total 70 to 90 million dollars per year.this money was promised to these employees but it is now given to carvin marvins cronies. we should have expected it would happen because everything that he has done has effected the employees negatively. He doesn't care about his employees he only cares to line his and his cronies pockets, He will most likely gets what he wants, a store staffed with part timers. The days of having employees in the aisles that actually know know about their department is essentially over.Good luck with that turtle

I have seen this before and at office I heard them say that the allowance is going away because the position is going away and this is the reason they aren't worried about lawsuits!! Their going to do more cuts its inevitable its quantity vs quality for them now.

As long as you're employed at Lowe's. They understand the verbiage. The specialist positions will be gone prior to the end date for commission payouts. Trust me.
