Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Hope high level management can see this.

My team has two person left last year, so we got two new hires. This time, one team member was impacted. This kind of layoffs may not be necessary in many cases, if we have a better plan. It is really simple. Let the manager know that headcount is reduced. And when there is a team member leave, no new hires will be allowed. Really, I hope I can support the team member in some way. But I cannot do anything, except posting here. Sad.

I workings 14 hours day to keep bad offshore code alive in mobile group. It’s nightmare and I’m glad to leave. This is not golden love.

More and more people are working 12 hour days.. taking a short break for dinner then at it again well into their evenings.. it is hard to turn off as it is the culture now..

| We have a team of 3 doing easily a team of 6's work.

If a team of 3 can easily do a team of 6's work, maybe you only need 1 or 2 people so you barely manage to do the work of 6. :-)

Meanwhile, externally hired management keeps coming, while homegrown talent keeps getting let go.

We have a team of 3 doing easily a team of 6's work. And we are still constantly threatened with cost cuts and LRs. I dunno know how much longer we can keep operating like this.
