Termination stories on how someone in retail got fired

a rep being fired because he shoplifted a Target Store. He was supposedly #1 in the country making 120k a year.

Another one is a manager got terminated because he was editing his time punches. Apparently would consistently come in 1/2-1 hour late then edit that he was never late. Stealing time. Dumb dumb.

Several employees have been terminated because they looked up celebrity accounts.

I was terminated after one of my best sales months ever. Was called into the office and told it was based on my overall performance the year prior, that the termination was coming from somewhere higher up, not from store management or anything I did wrong. Seemed very sketchy. My coworkers were stunned. I always operated with the highest ethical standards, putting the customer first, always showed up early to work, always was the first one helping customers as soon as the store opened while other reps hid in the back. And yes, slamming was encouraged and high fived. But I always tried to do the right thing. Learn of the customer's needs through discovery, make suggestions and recommendations, but never slam or be deceptive. When you do the right thing and live the right way, things work out fine. I went on to work for a great company where I make far more money.

What a ridiculous thread. The guy that was supposedly a top sales rep deserved to get fired for theft regardless where it happened. Can be sure he cheated to get Top Sales rep. Then there is another rep who is falsely adding ECPD discounts to accounts. You are such a good sales rep that you had to commit fraud on accounts to win President Cabinets? You didn't win Presidents Cabinet you cheated to get it and should have had to pay it back. Not a fan of verizon by any stretch but they were right to fire these shady people.

Helping customers save money through ECPD profiles by utilizing manager codes, ECPD profiles got kicked back and HR did a whole investigation an in the process of Termination. Was the most Dominant rep in the region and 2x president cabinet winner, goes to show no matter what yo do to help better a company you are nor more than just a number. Fu-k All of them and ended up opening up my own business making 3x more than i ever did working for that shithole of a place. The political structure and jealousy from management is what brought this to light. Just got a position as a business account manager and covienenty all within the same month this situation is started. GM just came in with his Lacky he hired as manager, both are trying their absolute hardest to stir the p-t but the jokes on them cause he gave me his codes to even have all this come to light. If i go down all of them are going with me.

Simply rerating and adding will not get you fired. There has to be more to that story. Maybe it was done over and over again and the SS was warned ? Every SS out there has rerated plans and added lines with most not fully disclosing all options. Don’t ask don’t tell. The best rerates were when single line customers came in with 4gb or More Everything plans. For the same price or even lower we would switch customer to single line 5GB plan and add a jet pack.

The purpose of this thread was to bring to light unique situations when someone was fired. I’m sure hundreds over the years were fired for shoplifting or stealing in there own store but in the case of one SS he shoplifted a Target store on his day off. He was found guilty and then terminated from Verizon. I know another situation where a– stalked a customer he sold a phone to. He even showed up to her address ( information he obtained opening her account information). Unique situations.

I know someone who was terminated for rerating and adding. The person was told they slammed the account and didn’t give the customer a option of the full cost savings without adding something. Isn’t that what they are taught?

How can anyone be “baffled” by HR being inconsistent with terminations? It all comes down to how well liked you are and the type of relationship you have with your district staff. I will tell you that being inconsistent has led to many a lawsuit that Verizon has lost. Keep in mind that a lot of things are covered up because of inappropriate relationships among coworkers and management. I know of one situation where a GM slept with her DM and she has been saved from being terminated for various reasons because she has him by the balz. Goes on in every company out there.

Verizon has always baffled me on how inconsistent they are when it comes to punishing and terminating people. I have seen HR unable to come to a decision for serious infractions, while terming other people for minor offenses.

The modus operandi of this company is to promote the ones who slam or find any way to get the numbers.usually not the retail or Management type individual s needed to run a retail store,Or people lacking the skills of being a good Manager. Most DMs hire this way , thus there decision is based not on management skills but by numbers. So I knew the SM in NYM who used too sit in his car ,in the woods near the store and remotely "punch in" or edit his time, this went on for months till he got caught and let go. The DM is still running the same zone and hiring using the same criteria as before hiring Sms that should nt be SMs and doesn't knows what's going on in his store regarding the individual he has hired.He is only concerned with numbers.
