Thread regarding Mondelez International Inc. layoffs

Bye bye sales reps

Why do you think we have trained our order writers to do the exact same jobs we all do but pay them a lot less? Because Mondelez plan is to eventually weed out sales reps, merchandisers, everyone and keep a few order writers to become territory representatives just like Keebler. Get to pay them a lot less with no car.

Your right reps aren’t going any where as they will keep a few on just like Kellogg. How is DSD a power selling advantage with being lock out of Walmart and I’m sure Kroger will follow soon. Our selling tools are being taken away one account at a time.

The seasonal hutches with all the bells and whistles I can understand, but a generic hutch? Really? It isn't rocket science, especially if you follow the directions like with playing with Knex or Legos when you were young.

And I'm saying the guy still got it wrong even with all those phone calls. Everyday. For months. Up until he screwed me over while quitting (long story, but basically he didn't tell me even when I talked to him the night before and the store he was going into that day had a huge display and are sticklers for punctuality to say the least), so you'll forgive me if I'm not fond of the guy.

id rather someone call me 15 times a day than someone who doesn’t care does it wrong or doesn’t do it at all like all my merchandisers. I would love and welcome all the questions from my part timers but they don’t care or want to know how because then it would be expected from them. Everyone has trouble with our hutches at first. My order writers been here about 10 years and still has trouble sometimes. They s—! Usually our managers throw our green employees out into these large account stores with poor to no training and it can be overwhelming at first.

Not sure how this all came up, but most hires I've seen here have been a mixed bag at best. It doesn't matter young or old. I've had older experienced people come in looking like they want to work and learn then just a few weeks later won't answer call/text/email and skip work then leave. Then I've had the good older workers.

Same goes for younger. I've had the green new guy who went to college yet needed to call me 15+ times a day to get things halfway right (this guy actually asked me how to build a generic hutch. No lie. Couldn't understand the instructions). Then I've had others who come in and rise up quickly because it's clear they are competent.

And those are just a few quick stories.

As SR you don't hire and need to work with who you get. Patience is key.

What are we arguing about here?? Aren't we all getting $hit€anned anyway!!! Only a few will survive. Could be an order writer or rep that can be a territory rep and take pictures all day!!

Order writer checking in.
We’re not all lazy. Far from it actually. I don’t know any that are. Most are working very hard to move up in this company. I know I could work laps around any SR on my team. It’s always always always the SR that is lazy. Sounds like you’re lazy and complaining when you actually have to do something. Truth hurts.

It really just comes down to competency. Someone could work her 5 years and still not comprehend basic tasks and critical thinking. Our newest SrSSR has only been with the company a year. Started part time moved up and moved up again with no experience in the dsd or grocery industry prior. He’s young he’s driven his mind is like a sponge. I’ve also had the same part timer for 5 years and it’s like it’s his first week on the job. Every. Single. Day. But sometimes it also boils down to how employees are treated. If they’re valued and appreciated they want to do a better job for you. I’ve actually had several part timers tell me they don’t care and they half @$$ on other routes where the SR is a d-uche canoe to them

Young here. Started college but never finished. Been with the company 10 yrs. Started as a PT right out of HS and now I am a rep with 19 accounts and I manage them damn well and it shows. My order writer is one of the best we have on our team but there’s times that themed displays are a struggle for them. Perhaps the college grad could show a little bit of leadership and ownership by meeting them at a store to show them how to build the display so then the next time they build it, they can do it solo. OR quite being soft and explain to them that this is part of their tasks when handed to them. If that doesn’t work, then it’s your RMS job to take the reigns and tell them to do it. No wonder why they don’t build it, they probably do it cause the way you treat them.

College graduate and only a sales rep huh ?? I’ll keep my opinion to myself but I can tell you right now you’ll never advance into a management role with your attitude. Respect and appreciate your employees and they will respect and appreciate you .

You would eventually just complain about that order writer too if they switched it for you. We all know your type in this company

order writers might $uck i don’t know but I do know I have the best order writer in the company! She goes above and beyond for me everyday. Gladly picks up any of my slack. I really did luck out because we are a perfect team and it saddens me that DSD will be ending before she has the chance to meet her next goal to become a sales rep as well.

Dirk should challenge Walmart. If they keep us locked out we stop all deliveries and deny product. You can’t end us in dsd if our ceo puts his foot DOWN. Walmart will not let NABISCO leave their stores entirely, just put these Oreos on strike and then let’s see how quick it opens back up !!!
