Specialist are safe till Q2 2020. The plan is to reduce headcount and reduce Average Hourly Wage thru attrition. It has been calculated that 35% of the remaining associates receiving spiff compensation will leave on their own (mainly Appliance/Cabinet specialists) by 2/1/20. This will make up 98% of all spiff payouts and also the higher $ per hour associates whom also come with 3&4 weeks of vacation that will be reduced. Once 2/1 comes, ASM and SM will perform force rankings and identify bottom half of FT Associates to layoff

I put my 2 week notice in on saturday, my store manager said he didn't want to lose me, but he was glad I found another job before my position(sales specialist plumbing) is consolidated.

Does anyone have a link to the pod cast about the rtm position being cut?

In other words, if you are one of the highest hourly paid specialists in your store(appliance guys and girls are you listening?) you’re next....you need to putting together your exit strategy before the company does it for you.

OF COURSE THEY ARE NOT OVER!

JUST LISTEN TO MARVIN, HE SAID HE'S NEVER SATISFIED.

THERE WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH MONEY TO SATISFY HIM OR THE HEDGE FUNDS WHO OWN HIM.

AND THEIR GREED IS DESTROYING THE COMPANY...

ELLISON WILL LEAVE LOWE'S IN RUIN JUST AS HE DID JC PENNY!!!

Store manager left his Email open(oops), saw the Criteria for selecting which specialists get to keep their positions. It's basically a scorecard and from what I remember the categories were sales(with some formula to account for different departments), pay rate, power equipment certification, number of specialty departments worked, attendance and also made some allowances for store manager discretion. All of the Specialists excluding kitchen cabinets will be subject to this process and it will result in the top half keeping their positions with the rest offered an open position if available at that positions payrate.

The remaining Install Offices in the stores will be gone. The CPO Office in Albuquerque NM will handle the Western United States. Florida and other states in the south that missed the transition the last time will be handled out of CPO Wilkesboro.

Did read an article in one of the online retail business magazines that they expect another round of store closings from Lowe's in the coming year.

“It is amazing how people just make things up on this board. “The layoffs are coming in October, all employs over $15”. Where do you come up with this stuff. Like there is going to be someone on this board that would know something like that. Get real people.“

Lots of people said that same thing about the warnings of ASM/Dept Mgrs a few years ago. Ignore the warnings at your peril.

  • or a delivery driver where delivery is still in-house. Many of them make + $15.00/hr.

I don’t think anyone is saying that “all $15.00/hr jobs are going away”, but eventually you will have to be in a mgmt or supervisory position to earn that much. That much is clear—-not just at Lowe’s, it’s happening at all big box retailers.

I'm full time and my ASM warned me(we're drinking buddies) to be ready because the next round of cuts are going to be brutal.

RTM will be gone, either by the end of this calendar year or in January. The podcast confirmed that.

“Why pay a full timer with benefits, when two part timers cost less for more hours” 1213 DM that I overheard. He said that it was the new policy from corporate.
You have targets on you if you are full time. Marvin thinks you are overpriced.

is it certain rtm is done? was there a pod cast saying rtm was done or something of that nature?

RTM is out, that we know. I fully expect more backend support positions to be heavily scrutinized and a further reduction in that area.
If you want full-time with benefits for the foreseeable future, and you are intent on staying with this company, then you really need to either reach out to be in management or remain there if you are already in one if those positions. Eventually the FT/PT ratio in the stores is going to be at least 25/75. Hourly, non-supervisor, full-time positions are going away.

October is when the big layoffs are happening. Over half of the specialists will be gone along with all other non-management employees making over $15 an hour. It's being done during the slow season so that less expensive part time employees can be brought in November thru January and be trained and ready to go for spring. The company is being rebuilt around part time employees. Next year will see a big reduction in management at the store level over the course of the year.

Layoffs are never off the table anywhere. With Lowes, the company is still in flux and trying to figure out how to stop the bleeding. Layoffs and reorganizations are going to keep happening as they continue to try to reduce expenses.

Truth is it will take a couple years for Lowes to stabilize again, if at all.

Probably not

It’s Lowe’s, you’re foolish if you think your job is safe. Even Marvin is on the chopping block if doesn’t keep his masters happy.
