Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

End of severance

Well, as of today the severance has ended for everyone. Anyone have any thoughts they’ve wanted to post but were waiting until the severance was done? GM has nothing to hold over any of us anymore.

Awareline and Speak up for safety are a joke! They are there only to please that extrrnal monitor from ignition switch case. Nothing changed here. Just a bunch of middle-school-minded mo–ns trying to run a business

I see a lot of comments about age discrimination. Why hasn't anyone been able to sue GM? I can't find a lawyer who will take my case. Sounds like all attorneys are in bed with GM. Tried to contact a couple of attorneys and they don't return my call. Anyone know any good attorneys?

Glad I am gone and got full severance plus WARN payment. I was targeted based on age, salary, and disability. My last CAP had false information on it so I knew I was being set up for a reduction. I did so much for the company above and beyond my day job. It is sad to have given so much to GM and to have been treated this way. My extended family has bought a lot of GM cars but no more.

I was released because I spoke up. I called the awareline and 2 members of upper management were removed from their jobs. Staff did not like that I called but they wouldn't address the problem. My complaint went to EEOC but since it had been over 180 days since I had called the awareline, they said I had no case even though I described a series of suspicious events that happened to me after calling the awareline. GM is sending out a message to those employees still there that if you call the awareline, you will have a target on your back. You will be let go-some way, some how. After 30 years of service, this is what I get. And my next car will be a Jeep!!

I was able to land a job within the month I was laid off and consider myself very lucky. It was nice receiving two paychecks for a bit.

I will never forget how horrible the process was for everyone involved. We were informed before the holidays and forced to worry and be in misery until February. Absolutely disgusting. Every person on my floor that lost their job were incredibly talented, while the nasty, selfish, backstabbing managers stuck around. That company is in the sh–ter.

Looking forward to hearing more from those that were fired now that they can speak freely without fear of any retribution.

If you want a list of companies that are hiring in the GM cities, you should ask GM. Remember when they were firing everyone at the start of this year, they were telling everyone about all the companies out there that wanted to hire the displaced workers. I don’t know of anyone that ever saw this list, I guess it was another lie from the honest and transparent GM.

Anyone want to post a list of companies that are hiring in each of the GM cities in Arizona, Georgia, Texas, and Michigan?
