Thanks to the dedication of CWA members across District 3, our bargaining team was able to make significant progress over the last few days. This was all made possible by the strength of each and every one of us joining together in solidarity.

Our bargaining team was able to come to terms with the company and have reached a handshake deal to settle negotiations. Tomorrow afternoon, we plan to return to the bargaining table and make an official tentative agreement. We will distribute the details as soon as possible.

Ultimately, this was all made possible by you. Considering the status of negotiations just a few days ago, there can be no doubt that the strength of our Union is not in Atlanta at the District 3 Office. Our strength is spread across nine states and is inside each and every one of you.

What a bunch of BS! Word on the street last weekend was the strike would end on Wednesday 8/28. This was completely staged. Pathetic excuse for a strike especially when the whole @#$% thing was a premeditated "show". Sad indeed.

District 6 had a Friday to Monday unpaid strike in 2001 we had a deal when we got back on Monday. This is a planned part of the negotiations it seems.

I hear that it was also to try and prove to the non-members who recently got out, that the union actually had the nerve to go on strike. They are losing members by the boatloads and trying to sign them back up. So apparently it was planned all along, and also to save the company money. What a crock! Glad that I am not a member anymore.

If the new contract does not have Gaineseville, FL as a class A cost of living city then you will know that they have sold us out. Gainesville is in Alachua county FL with the highest property taxes in the state.

The timing is too perfect with the initial planned ending of the strike. The cynic in me thinks this was a concerted effort by the company and the union: The company saves money from the strike to “give in” to the union’s demands.
