I got hired by Cisco when I was 22 year old. I turn 68 in a month and will be retiring January 1st. I've been on 6 different teams over the years. Always changed teams on my own choosing. Worked with white managers, Indians and female bosses. I'm over a grade 12. Never once felt the risk of being laid off. Cisco has changed a lot over the years. I have seen a lot over the years. But Cisco overall is a good company where if you work hard you can retire from.

I worked hard for 20+ years and got laid off (over the phone) in Sept. 2015.
@10Etw8z0-8rkl honeymoon at age 60? You be must be double lucky guy -
1) Cisco kept you that long
2) you got a new wife
What's the secret?
Was hit last year Nov 2018, 23 years at Cisco, just returned from our honeymoon and a nice pink slip waiting for me. Whats funny is I submitted my PTO for Dec holiday before I left, so when I returned I was checking my email and saw pto rejected so i called my manager and asked whats up, and he said to me I don't know let me check.
He knew he just didn't have the balls to tell me. They did me a favor, nice package. I was 1 of 3 in the 60 age to go.
False. Not possible because the the tenure you claim is longer than Cisco has been in existence. Your employee ID would have to be negative.
If you got hired at 22 and are now 68, then you have been working at Cisco for 46 years. That means you started in 1974. Cisco Systems was formed in 1984.
Worked for Cisco for over 40 years? Riiiiight
This post is symbolic of the c-ap coming out of Cisco these day. It is too bad, because at one point it was a good company(long, long ago).
Amen! I got package at age 73 with 19 years with Cisco
By chance, did you have a red stapler?
Troll
I worked AGS+ support back in the Klondike Days, just before the Gold Rush of '49 (1849 that is). Back then, all the AGS+ trunks ran over telegraph wire. Those were the days.
no, this is UN-possible!
Sounds like every Cisco all-hands that I've attended. Delusional storytelling, without any facts.
ANd the first employee wasn't hired until 1985. But hey, it's make up a fact Wednesday!
Not possible. Company wasn't even started until 1984.
Are you the one who put the dot in dotcom?
Love it. Everyone should stay at Cisco until you are summarily axed. Thank you, Cisco HR, for the paid political announcement. The Sheeple Squeal. The Feeble Meal. Or something like that.
Who knew Cisco was founded in 1973? Apparently you were working on ARPAnet before Al Gore,
