Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

I'm a contractor. Goodbye Lowe's.

It's a long time coming. I've given Lowe's ample time to make good and then fail Everytime.

I'm a landscaper. I own the business. I have three crews that cover and area of 4 Lowe's stores.

A year ago, I decided to open a LAR account and I was immediately approved for a 30k limit. My crews were added and given cards to use at 4 different Lowe's.

We had nothing but problems! Botched deliveries with ample time and planned a week or more in advance. This XPO system they have is terrible. They did away with Sunday deliveries and can't even give a time frame. I can't tell you how many times I ordered stock items like mulch, block, dirt, etc to have delivered 7, 10, or 14 days out and they never come, and many times they are a no show at all with my crews waiting!

All we get are lies when we have to waste our time and go to the stores or call. I've had to be on personal basis with four store managers who at times did help the situation, but by then it was too late.

I lose time and money with Lowe's. Period!

I was told there would be a dedicated loader, yet it takes us hours to get our merchandise Everytime we go there. No one answers phones, there is zero service.

I've left, and all my contractor friends have too. We simply lose money with Lowe's and we lose customers. I pay a little more using lumber yards and other yards for supplies but they are reliable and therefore more efficient and optimal.

I've called corporate too many times to count and they are liars, and utterly useless. Empty promises and no changes for the better.

I've sent in complaints, then some young phone operator calls to tell me they value my business. It's clear they don't.

Lowe's is not a professional outfit, and no contractor worth anything would ever use them for any length of time.

I write this after a year of trying to work with Lowe's and get them to do their job! They can't, plain and simple. Your business is broken. Starting at the top.

You clearly do not want, not care that I've spent 68 k this year already or else you would have done something.

Bye bye Lowe's. Forever.

Sincerely,

A professional business that refuses incompetence.

Sorry to hear about all the BS Billy, but glad to hear you’re done. I’m a former employee and left my position because of sheer embarrassment. Worked for installed sales, then PSI Coordinator and could never get materials delivered on time for the contractors. I went many rounds with delivery mgr. Frustrating lame a– excuses! Wish more contractors and customers would spend their money elsewhere.

To: "I hear you Billy".... Listen, read what I posted about LAR accounts, not what you think I said.

LAR cards stopped years ago. You process only by a phone number and be on the authorized buyer list. Simple. People try to swipe a LAR card, and it won't work. You have to manually enter the account on that card, or, even easier, use the phone number.

I can walk you through it on Genesis if you don't understand.

I'm pretty sure I have more in sales by May than you have all year.

Billy? I am a Pro Specialist, and I can talk from experience that you are 100% correct. You are also 100% correct on the service many contractors get from many branches. Each store is different, but for the most part, you exemplify the service we give Pro Accounts at my store because we have no staff.

Its not that we dont want to be at the Pro desk, its just that Management uses all of us daily elsewhere. We unload trucks, work lumber and registers, and even cover depts on opposite sides of the store.

You're also correct on the very dumb posters below who dont know sh–, and could fkk up a wet dream. LAR's exist, and everythiNG they mentioned is mo–nic babble. But thats the kind Marvin hires now. Milennial misfit, mo–ns.

You are wise to leave now, and Im hoping the more big accounts that depart will force some change for the better. Ive reached all the way up to Marvin himself, and every exec under him tellig them the situation and they dont give a rats arse.

Good luck to you.

Well, I agree pretry much of what you say could be true if you were at my store.

Except. I call BS that you opened a LAR account and got cards. Lowe's stopped giving cards for that type account years ago.

Plus, you probably send non-English speaking illegals to pick up stuff and they can't tell anyone the phone # for the account. Or even articulate what they are there for.

Hey “Billy” you are such a “professional”, why don’t you invest in a truck?

Lowe’s cut staffing so slim, if one person calls out the store basically collapses. I recently had a $1200 fencing order from Lowe’s. I walked from lumber to garden and only saw 2 associates. I was absolutely shocked when the product delivered the next morning at 7am. It was a nice surprise.

We had a guy that would come in, give a list to the pro manager who would hand it off to a pro loader who would pull the order. Customer would head across the street to the bar. This all stopped when the bar guys boss came in looking for him.

What always used to pXXXX me off was demanding contractors that would only buy their commodities from us and want it priority-delivered on the job site at 600am, but they would never buy their doors, windows, hardware, appliances, lighting, etc. from us. MY philosophy was always, “give me the rest of your business besides sticks and Sheetrock, and THEN you’ll get priority on delivery every morning. Until then, you get in line like everyone else.” This guy kind of sounds like one of those contractors.

This is what happens when you deal with 3rd party delivery guys that work for Lowes. Do you think they care when your material gets delivered? Hell no, its out of our hands. Call corporate if you want but that won't fix anything. Our new CEO has no ideal how to run a company. You will better off going to your local supplier, time is money when you have your guys standing around let alone your customers that want the job done on time.

Neither Lowe’s or HD are really set up to properly service building/construction contractors. You’re better off going to your local lumber yard.

When I started with Lowe’s back in the early 90s we had the contractor yards and they were set up for this kind of business—-but those days are long gone.

I forgot to add that I went to Lowe's today at 830, and I was told the garden center isn't open because they have no cashiers. I asked for a manager, no one could help.

This is the continuous, rookie service I get from Lowe's.

Never anyone to help. They take your money though with competence, and empty promises. Then never deliver.

Last Tuesday I called and the store manager promised my delivery was set for Weds and it would be there by 11 am. My crews sat and waited, and it never came.

When asked why, they lied. Said truck broke down. But prob is, we saw the truck, making flat bed deliveries.

Lowe's is just awful. Over the past year, it's just gotten so bad that it's just silly. No one can do business like this.

Home Depot bailed us out a few times. Perhaps we,LL try them. But we are done with Lowe's. I won't go there for water if dying of thirst.
