Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

June 14

June 14th is the day for layoffs. Across the board cuts

June 14 is Friday. When exactly did we have massive layoffs on a Friday? We might have had situations in which layoffs spilled over into it, but that's about it.

I'm not saying there'll be no layoffs, just that I don't buy the June 14 rumor.

Some posters here want their self fulfilling prophecies to come true. When it doesn't happen, they deny reality. I call it the way I see it despite the fact I'm no fan of AIG. Some departments have been on the RIF list for years. It takes time and logistics to outsource them using SAP. I will repeat what I said earlier. The RIFS are minuscule compared to previous years. Massive Layoffs is far from the norm since March. If you don't want to work for AIG, then get the heck out. BD and his buddies aren't going to change. Pray for a sale or merger. It's the only way to change their core philosophy.

In re to @Zuf18sM-6svy, generally speaking: Layoffs happen in pay weeks... generally Tuesday and final day is that Friday... but I have seen since last August to present where layoffs have occurred on non pay weeks. In addition outside US they aren't always on our pay week

EMEA and APAC coming this week with RIFs . Head of Eng is keeping his friends in position when hard workers and loyal staff being RIF’d. Systemic problem in AIG with leadership. All ERR staff to go and work done by Indian operations.

you @Zuf18sM-5hoq seem to be a little disconnected. Don't need your predictions because you have no clue

OMG are you kidding me!!! June 14 was the last day for roughly 120 casualty engineers! They got notice Tuesday which is the process anyone with any wherewithal got this one. Yes to whoever posted the June 14 OP! You were right. Others chimed in and clarified the day was likely Tuesday but kudos for the June 14 posting.

Nothing happened today, June 14, 2019. Pretty much what I predicted. You can't prognosticate a RIF based on your despise for AIG. The executives high on the food chain monitor this site. I would too. Sure they will layoff employees in Reinsurance and Olathe. That's a given. What we're not seeing is a repetition of previous years. Take the $ and run for a better company before it's too late. Waiting for your severance unless you're in your 60's isn't worth it. That's my best advice based on my experience.

Agree with @Zuf18sM-2obi. I remember some years back that they did it right before Thanksgiving. Yes AIG doesn't take any of that into consideration. They try to project an image of being a caring organization. The truth is coming out and will continue. BD and his Buddies don't care. They already got what they want and it doesn't matter at this point how many lives they ruin.

That’s a current “leader” doing some damage control. He didn’t mention layoffs that occurred Dec 14, 2018, or 10 days before Christmas. Oh, and btw, Happy Father’s day this time around. I’m starting to think they do it on purpose on special dates to enjoy it more.

@Zuf18sM-1pun is either a troll or very isolated or in an area receiving work vs. Losing it to a vendor or different team.

No other way not to see people you know released or to feel the impact of continuous cuts in teams you work with.

More good people with a lot of knowledge are being released.

To @Zuf18sM-1pun , you are incorrect. This site provides information that our Senior Management and our Leaders should be providing and sharing with us. You are making assumptions and must be with Senior Management. The layoffs wo'n't fizzle on Friday. Even if they were to, this site provided accurate and up to date information. We have had to come here to find out what's happening through out our company. I think you hate the fact that we are being transparent.

if they don't happen on the 14th I'll happen another day remember where you are they're not over they'll never be over they have to be able to afford those huge salaries for all the Senior Management they replaced over the past 2 years after they let that level go in 2013 what a waste of effort nevermind money your money your raises that will never come

Most here hate AIG. I think June 14th is an excuse to bash the company. What happens if the layoffs fizzle on Friday?

Most of senior executives are gone. I am not sure about junior staff but know at least 2 admin assistants and 1 junior analyst who were let go. At least 4-5 senior executives were let go. The head of CRS was let go a few months back so we knew this was coming. Not sure what lies ahead. Frustrating to be part of a company that can't get its direction right for a full year.

We have had every kind of layoff there is.

We have had notices over the course of a multi-week period with the office last day on pay Friday.

We have had notices for a large number of people across multiple locations via a single meeting with people escorted out before the official last day.

We have had periods where small numbers of people were notified every week for months with the official last day and whether they worked though it varying.

We have had some groups getting advanced notice of an end date after a transition.

All kinds.

The end date for some people will be Friday. Some of those people already know. Some will hear this week up to and including Friday.

"Massive" depends on each person's perspective and the impact.

I know people are looking for some all clear date to stop worrying.

I don't think that will come anytime soon. Too many new leaders who are evaluating the business that is written or how and where the work is done.

A lot of predictions on this website did not come true. It is all bogus. You should bury your head in your work instead of writing rubbish here.

We have indeed had a large amount of RIF's across all of AIG in the past. Just not large enough in one are to make it public knowledge. I am connected and have been with other workers through out the country that have shared the knowledge of this
