Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

What facilities might close in the second half of the year?

Is anything rumored and does anyone have any detailed or less detailed info?

Buying Vodaphone's 49% wasn't a mistake. Buying Vodaphone's 49% at peak value was a mistake.

Boston, Basking Ridge and San Francisco......3 of the highest cost of living areas in the country. “Hey, I know. Let’s increase staff levels there” said some stupid Verizon Exec.

Here's what I was told by my boss in Basking Ridge: They are going to gravitate around 6 primary metropolitan areas now. Boston, Basking Ridge, Alpharetta, Irving, and San Francisco. They will cap any further expansion elsewhere and work to eventually close those facilities through attrition, automation, and retirement incentives. Starting in 2020.

Our customers are immoral and self-absorbed. Need to get in the customer's head to be successful, so we're on the right path.

all of them vz is no longer the company it was. It's full of self absorbed, immoral, untalented leaders. In 5 years tmobile and att will leave vz in their dust. It's to late they let all their talented people go. They are on a downward spiral. Biggest mistake was buying out vodaphone. As soon as vz started calling the shots the company imploded.

I hear Cary folks will be asked to move to Alpharetta or Irving soon.

VZ has been closing locations for the last 10 years plus. Even centers which cost millions to build were closed once leases were up within a few years. The question isn't illogical. Real estate reductions are a quick way to get to $ savings.

I think a lot of what people post on here is illogical. I'm in Rolling Meadows. Just got a "just because" raise and am in line for a promotion. From my perspective, that doesn't sound like a business operation that has it's days numbered.
