Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Will we ever see GE to be a stable company again?

I don’t mean will the company be great again as it used to be, think we all know that those days are long gone. I mean can we ever expet ge to be stable company without comtat shifts, changes, layoffs, selloffs or anything that makes us wonder will the company survive?

GE taken as a whole is sick. But if someone is considering their future for work, maybe just look at the pieces. My opinion is that Aviation and Healthcare remain good places to work, but maybe avoid the rest (unless you don't have a job at all).

No. The place is rotten. From the inside out. Toxic culture since the 80s. No turning this giant circus around. Must break it into pieces, that is the only way to save its products. The engineers and shop workers can still do the job.

At this point t the answer is no. GE has a culture problem from being a financial and marketing company. There is no innovation around solving next-gen customer problems. Its industrial market is conservative and slow moving so its got years of milking left but that buys time to come up with something.

Culp is leaving out the elephant standing in the middle of the room... the culture... besides he doesn’t really have to do much but show up be the 1 percent and collect the millions.... then... bye bye.... what a sad day to witness the downfall of a once great company....

I am beginning to wonder if Culp is the right person for the job. All he has done so far is to acknowledged GE’s problems only. Very little other action.

Highly unlikely. We are in the summer and that means before you know it Culp will have been around for one year without any (forget about meaningful) culture change. Sure some leadership moves have been made but nothing across the board that will impact the company and all employees. Without it, things are just the sam with another 1%er leader making millions

Possible, but only with a massive culture change. All up to Mr. Culp, who is in a position to effect it and, hopefully, save whatever is left of the company.

Millions and millions has been handed to corporations like GE all across America . Yet the workers wait with baited breath to see if their raise will cover the cost of insurance increases,or the cost of living. it's a damn shame that the blue collar guys are the ones who are worried about the company. Think about it , if you manage a company at the top level and get millions of tax free dollars why would you care if workers ever turn a profit or produce a product.why ? Because your already rich and can hold out for years against workers demands. America voted for this sh-- ,then act surprised when it actually plays out in their hometown. Keep voting Republican you ain't seen nothing yet.

@ZVlkLt5-vbx. Apple wasn't a 125 year old company with 40 +/- of the most recent years being run by egotistical maniacs, big difference.

Not really, the inept power leaders are still in place running the division.

It's possible. The Big Guy is bringing aboard some hot shots from Danaher. He obviously does not have confidence in the homegrown talent. Someone has to start watching the store. The inmates are running the asylum.
