Layoffs hit Orange County, California. Corporate chose the people that were laid off regardless of performance evaluations or ratings. Some of the highest performing techs were laid off. District Managers had no say as to who was getting let go. So sad!

My works in a small store (MN). So far, no one from their store has been let go this week. The day is still young.

I feel for all of the employees being laid off. We all know its all about the dollar and the fact that there is a glut of us doesn't help either. Been in the profession for 28 years. Would not even consider it now.

More to come. Rph should expect to work for around 40 per hour starting next year. So many pharmacists and many new grads in debt. Every year hundreds more will graduate

Pathetic group of losers gave the profession away.

This is truly sad and I am devastated for anyone effected by this. However.... I had to chuckle when I saw this: . “Unless Walmart makes their system faster and more efficient like Walgreens, “

I was with RA and bought out by Walgreens. Their system is terribly outdated and NOT efficient at all!! 😂 I think it was developed somewhere around uhm... 1901

This is NOT based on metrics. The company is trying to follow the directions of Walgreens and CVS. Whenever something negative happens at Walgreens and CVS, it always finds it's way to Walmart. I know of stores that have great numbers, increased scripts and profit BUT they were still impacted with loss of hours. When o---id stewardship was implemented and they said it will not impact our projection for script count due to loss in business, that was a damn lie as well. You can work harder, but the company will not reward your pharmacy.

My friend started working in Walmart pharmacy in high school and she went to pharmacy school and was guaranteed a job when she graduated. She now works for Sam's and she only wanted parttime since she has 3 small children and they were glad to accommodate her.

I was laid off today too after 5 years and increase in script count 5 percent and hitting 1100 flu shots this year with my team. I want to know what are the criteria for choosing me and who has chosen me? Do we need to go to court to know the truth ?

I’m sorry for everyone who lost their jobs. I think this is the way pharmacy is going. Target pharmacist’s took a beat down when CVS took over. We lost staff, vacation, and benefits and now have a skeleton crew with twice the workload. From what I’ve seen and read this is Walmart trimming staff like Kroger, CVS, and others have already done.

I was called to the back on the 26th of June and told I have 60 days to either find a position I the store or at another store or else I'm being laid off. They said I was selected completely by random by home office and that it had nothing to do with my performance and that customers have actually said how good I was. I started in August last year and I was coming close to my one year of pharmacy experience and now I've lost it unless I can find another pharmacy to hire me.

Still dealing with aftermath. Implementation of 12 hours shifts. Reduced overlap. Loss of staff pharmacist and technician hours. Unless Walmart makes their system faster and more efficient like Walgreens, this will only cause customer dissatisfaction. It's like a negative loop.

I just hit my 6 month mark and, despite not being the best as a tech, but instead better at selling immunizations and engaging people, I was just given the talk today. I have two months to find a different pharmacy job elsewhere. I'll keep my hours and current pay rate for around a month but afterwards, I'll more than likely take a pay cut, have my full time hours axed, and my insurance negated due to becoming part time again.

Of course, I was given the opportunity to take a position at another store in another city, but the location would be disconnected from public transportation and much of what I need, especially work and opportunities to grow. I cried on my way home and then stopped by a local thrift store, bought a nice suit for next to nothing and cleaned up my appearance a bit. Starting tomorrow, I'll be job searching and wearing it to interviews.

Yes, I just got laid off after five years of hard work. The store rx numbers increases 5 oercent with half the number of labor. I left with my license in hand. It is a very bad feeling guys. Very painful. I don’t know why I was chosen

Sorry to hear they got to you guys, we went through this last year at kroger but nothing as harsh whereas no firings but hours cut ft 32 and pt 20 mgr 40 . And no tech cuts . Actually to any techs that got cut or let go in western Wa. Hit up Fred Meyer I know just off the top of my head we have roughly 30 plus openings from Bellingham to Shelton and all points in between same pay I think top union scale is 19.80 to 20.80 and 21+ in non union stores .

Walmart Pharmacy has a separate page here on Thelayoff you can see it here &walmart-pharmacy or here https://www.thelayoff.com/walmart-pharmacy

We should probably move the discussion there and have separate threads for locations an positions...

Did the market directors have any say in who was cut? I know in the past associates are ranked before a layoff from top to bottom by their managers at least at higher levels.

On Monday our Rx cashier was let go as well. We all saw it coming though because she was being scheduled once a week at most. Our pharmacy has gone from 7 techs to 4 and we're definitely overworked. I have been applying for tech jobs elsewhere because i feel as if things are just starting to spiral out of control.

I work in a small NHM in Tx, we had just 2 pharmacists, one fully licensed tech, 3 training (2 just got hired last week, I will be licensed within a month or so) and a cashier. We lost our RPh and it's broken our hearts. He JUST bought some land and was getting ready to build a house. And hes an older guy too. In his early 70s. I dont know if he'll be able to find a new job. I hate it so much for him. 😔😔

Our store lost a 72 hour salaried rph yesterday. He’s been there about 4 years. 60 days paid leave then, if can’t find a job, he’s gone.

Our budget doesn’t seem to have changed for techs, but for pharmacists, we’ll be expected to complete 20-25 Rx per hour. Not sure how we’ll do everything else. Mandatory lunch hours mean minimal to no overlap. We have a conference call later on it.

I’m actually hoping they change my pharmacy hours at this point. Because I feel like I’m going to have to work some long a-- days. I struggle with the 11 hour shifts already, and that’s only on my weekends.

Our new hire was kept. Not sure if it’s because he makes less or has a smaller base hour set.

Our store stopped being open overnight already this year, as well. Laid off 2 managers. And from what I’m told, all but 6 department managers are going.

Hope there becomes a class action lawsuit naming all market, regional and HO staff as defendants. Bless those affected, there is life after Wmt.

Well I can't say I didn't see this coming. Walmart being so restrictive on Controls cut RX counts big time...even when they were good to fill- then for good PR they agree to raise wages for us unwashed masses (having us do the jobs of 3 people cutting hours and now staff). Now a fresh new crop of hungry Grads has hit the market...who will do whatever they are told for much less than the Experienced staff who knows better. On top of that...they have a Pipe dream of "catching up to Amazon!?" They have already dumped truck loads of cash in that pit while Our Computer systems are so antiquated an abacus could be faster. Yeah...it was writing on the wall. "Company Loyalty" only goes one way. "Liquidation of position" in a "Right to work State" means no Unemployment either. I'm looking at it as an improvement on my personal Health. Let them go the way of Sears I say. Parasites.

You will find way @2xdi - something always comes up. Lucky, the economy is still expanding and people will continue to be spending on healthcare. Your next job may not be as good as this one, you may have to drive longer, or have different schedule - something will come up for sure. Just be patient. If you are hard working and meticulous that will be rewarded just please be patient and persistent. God bless.

@2xdi, it’s natural to feel that way now, it’s a shock for all of us. I lost a job twice already, so believe me when I say you’ll land on your feet. Just keep your chin up, be patient and persistent, something will come up soon.

I was an RXM in Florida. My staff pharmacist and I both were terminated at the beginning of June for “blatantly disregarding sop” which was absolutely ridiculous. Now it all makes sense. They were looking for something to terminate us for so they didn’t have to pay severance. We were the only store in the market up in script count, sales, specialty etc. Always at the top of the market on metrics and really went the extra mile to develop patient relationships. Been devastated for the past three weeks because I loved Walmart and was nothing but loyal to them for 5 years.
