Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Cutting the hours is a sign that they will thin the headcount ?

At least for me that is the message. Cutting the hour for long time workers is telling us that we are disposable. Why else would they do that, given that there is always the same amount of store hours that needs to be filled and it cost them the same to fill those hours with one or two workers. Maybe I’m oversimplifying, maybe I’m captain obvious but that’s the message I got and I don’t get why don’t people talk about this, calling it what it really is: a prelude to layoffs.

Thinning of the herd !

By the way CVS does not layoff the hourly bottom level employees they, just cut your hours until we can no longer afford to work there and move on to other employment.

I know of several long time employees, and these ones are seasoned, experienced, and know their way around the store. Getting rid of your most experienced people, the ones who know your business the best, is always a bad idea. Why? Because who do you replace them with? Remember, it’s hard to replace experience. So if you replace experienced people with people who know little about your business, just because they make minimum wage, you business is doomed to fail. Do you want a store filled with minimum wage teenagers, or 20, 30, & 40 year veterans who know CVS!

Targeting long time workers is going to cost them more in the long run. Some practices of "removal" is unlawful.
