Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Question for people leaving PepsiCo

What finally pushed you to make that decision? What was the reason you attribute to saying "I've had enough?"

I didn't quit PepsiCo. PepsiCo quit me. Therefore I claim victory by default. I no longer face the constant threat of being cut because they already made that decision for me. It sure beats staying around for some undetermined length of time, complete with the constant threat of getting cut looming overhead. I bet I would have eventually quit within the year if I had been saved, working with such an incompetent bunch of outsource contractors. It's such a relief I won't have to deal with them over the summer. I can make the best decisions I can for them, but whatever the outcome, good or bad, PepsiCo has to own it. It's not my responsibility anymore. They can't beat me down anymore because I'm already dead to them. I will leave this toxic company culture with my head high and my sanity relatively intact.

No chance waiting to be let go when their IT hubs are up and running. Rather go now on my terms and they can deal with the transition and service loss.

They chose to flush the careers of hundreds of IT people down the toilet so they can own it.

Left on my own. Was so tired of the constant worry/threat of being outsourced. Here we are a few years later and my poor IT friends/co-workers have been laid off due to outsourcing. PepsiCo's motto Make India Great Again!

Left on my will to escape from toxic rhetoric and dumb--s leadership. Believe me. Best decision of my life . Suggest everyone who is in the same boat to don't rather than being consumed by negativity. Good luck 👍.

The charade of Indira and how she captured the company for her own people and vested interests did it for me. I predicted this 8 years ago and none would believe me. Everyone had been dupped stupid by ik

Just complete rotten management who lie and lie like trump. Amazing right .. Indira crying when trump comes to power and yet joins his business forum and still stays on despite all when others had morale to say enough.

Talk of not having a backbone.

Tcs and others who are milking Pepsico blind and laughing to the bank. Shame on Pepsico for having been robbed blind and those who sweated blood to take it to where it is.

Make India great is the motto of this company.

Glad to leave this hell hole.

Can someone please share what type of severance is being offered for IT people impacted by this situation? Is it negotiable?

i had enough , but had the patience to wait 8 months because the severance pay was quite long (4,5 years). Although these were very long months due to the extreme pressure management put on me to quit myself , they used every trick in the book , some tricks can even be classified as mental torture. If there is a hell , i m sure there is a special place for Pepsico management.

Knew it was ultimately going to be my time in the barrel; rather it be on my terms. All it takes is being in the wrong group at the wrong time. As soon as I could take my money off the table (55 + 10) I gave my notice. Never regretted it for a minute.

Almost 2 years of employment working at a plant out of college. Multiple managers did not respect the amount of vacation time I had accumulated, and didn't believe my time tracking (when the site did not do their own tracking). Had a week of vacation taken from me and nobody took my word for it. Pretty sure that was a crime in the state I was working in. Late / long nights working night shift with almost no time off. Missed birthdays and special events because my boss needed my counterpart to cover, even on nights my department / systems were shut down. When I received my GPA in March, they had downgraded my score from what I was told I earned before I left. They went through all the trouble to change my performance report to save $300. Couldn't be happier at my new job. Hoping friends who are still there will get out soon, they're still fighting to get home at a decent hour each day.

Managers given packages;

1.) 40+ years walked out by security not able to say good bye and had to pick their office belongs up on the weekend.

2.) 46+ years was called on their phone told package & their e-mail gone next morning.

3.) 49+ years brought to a nasty hotel lobby and let go!

Afraid to recognize what built PepsiCo/FRITO-LAY?

No retirement gathering recognition with the subordinates or peers!

The Greedy of Money! Gotta have 1.)Great Product, 2.)Great People and 3.)Great Profit but without Great People you can't do the other two. Lee I.

No way this is right! Globalism, diversity of people not the diversity of thinking has ruined this company! When the BIG QUALITY or Food SAFETY EVENT happens look out Market Share which keeps dropping! Prayers!

When it became crystal clear that my objectives were totally opposite of my boss. My objective was to focus on the companies future and my boss demanded that I focus on his future.

After 35 years I got to the point I could not live with the toxic culture. The organization was lying to Wall Street, employees and vendors to continue to line their pockets with stock options that made them very wealthy. So, I left.

Like @YRR5mMj-1rrf they made the decision for me and handed me a package for 21 years of loyal service. However, many of my former IT colleagues are now actively looking for employment and will leave as soon as they can.

As I been advising my friends and former colleagues its better to leave under your own terms than to be shown the door at a latter date. Currently the economy is good as is the job market so you have the option of accepting a job offer or refusing it if it is not to your liking. If you get a severance you may not have such options especially if the economy begins to slow down.

In the old days, those that had decades of seniority with an employer had reasonable job security. With the job cuts over the past few years, those with seniority are being let go and those who do not have customer facing positions are losing their jobs to outsourcing, restructuring or whatever the lie of the month is.

As I stated many times over the years is that I am as loyal to the company as the company is loyal to me. As leadership had demonstrated over the years an FTE is a liability not an asset to the organization. With that mindset, why should anyone think they have a longer term future employed with the company.

I thought more highly of myself than the organization did. I wanted to go on my own terms - walk away knowing I made the decision myself and didn't let them make it for me....which they would have at some point. I left considerable money on the table (left just shy of 20 years and 5 years before early retirement), but I have my pride and dignity in tact - you can't put a price on that!. It was the right choice for me. No regrets!!!
