Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Dictator Farm

Companies becoming so dictatorial it’s disgusting actually. Now they’re restricting agents from putting cell phones on business cards and not allowing agents or team members to send texts from anything but SFConnect for business. Is that even legal since agents are independent contractors?

Every agent in the company is expecting a big change. Been expecting it for years. Just wondering exactly when, what it will look like, and whether there will be any incentive offered to walk away. Many employees were offered SOMETHING, and hopefully it will be the same for agents. Not a golden parachute, but something to lessen the costs of walking away from some cost commitments like office leases. Some of us have been here a long time and were literally hired for a totally different skill set than what they want now. In many cases, it’s not whether we’re willing because the new skill set is just not who we are.

Probably trying to insulate themselves from TCPA violations.

From what I have heard it is going to be tough on any agent not in a constant production mode. Compensation will be weighted toward raw new and scaled back on renewal to fund larger commissions on new and especially new multi line. Treading water will be financially impossible.

It’s been a good deal for a long time, it’s going to change like everything else. My wife’s a realtor that 6% commission going to be history soon. It’s going to be like they do in England the attorneys make all the $$$$.

I also heard they are already working on the big contract change. It’s going to be a whole different deal.

I suppose we need to do it especially with amazon getting into the insurance business.

We just purchased a new Volvo and they include the collision and comp with the lease payment.

Now I know why they were pushing the MF’s

So hard with RBC. To make up for the income shortfall. Wow

@YAcxMhi-2doz That's probably the same reason you don't do any business. We're not in the 80s anymore bro. Wake up or retire.

@2doz—If you have Blackberry Access activated, they already have the right to access your phone and everything on it.

As an agent I will never place my personal cell number on my business card. That then gives the Company the legal right to obtain all data on the phone in the event of litigation. No thanks, business and personal separate.

GMC- All that for putting your cell phone number on your business card? I hardly think so Sheldon. Surely you’re not going to be surprised to find out your neighbor has your wife bent over your counter top three or four times a week right?

The Board cannot be replaced and MT is not going anywhere. Conducting your business in authorized ways opens you up to huge personal liability. No E&O coverage and no SF accountability for your actions. A serious error in judgement.

@YAcxMhi-2nas You must be one of those pussies from corporate that’s scared of their own shadow. If only you id--ts knew the impact of your god awful decisions. Can’t wait till tipsord and his whole board get replaced.

Yea let's contact customers with legally binding text messages from our personal phones and no auditing.... that's a great idea!

Agents can put cellphones on their business cards. Agent team members cannot. Makes some sense since the agent has a contractual relationship with the Farm, and because the Farm technically has access to the agent's phone IF the agent uses it to receive State Farm emails, etc. I sincerely hope it never comes to that.

For those of you advocating that the agent go elsewhere and put anything they want on their cards....are you the same people who get on here and rant about agents being unethical in their sales practices?

Wow, SF Made me put my company cell on the business card. (I checked desk phone on a regular basis and can't answer phone while in a meeting or driving, so I dont need it on a biz card) Everyone complained but I think I'm the only one not so cheap, I ordered my own biz cards and put what I wanted on it. Don't tell me how to run my day, as long as the customer is taken care of and happy, I do what I want. They were none the wiser.

Wake up brother, there’s probably 100 places within a 5 mile radius that will print your business card anyway you want it, for a fraction of the SF and print costs. Rock on.
