No major layoffs this past week. Total since 6/1/2016 remains at 20,396. Oracle projects declining revenues for Q4 - that should be a pretty strong hint that layoffs are coming. Keep looking. Good luck all.

There is no reason to resign before being laid off. Get laid off, you can argue it was no fault of yours, just cost cutting in your area. Better to be laid off than quit.
Thanks for the response. Engineers are in demand and any one will come forward and sponsor good ones, its simple!

assuming this is posted by the same person... How you can resign if you are on an employment visa? Either I forgot how H1 works, either you cannot, - until you have another company ready to sponsor your visa (and your green car in the future).
I have been here 2 years. so not expecting any big package. If I survive this RIF, then I can hope to stay on for 2-3 years like before or need to find something? That's the question I need Green Card sponsorship and I'm on Visa in USA at 150 K Software Engineer

why are folks so secretive. Tell clearly which Oracle. Oracle America or Oracle India and which units and which projects, folks are being sc-apped!
I m on H1 waiting for Green card sponsorship and Oracle has been slow in Green card sponsorship now this lay off rumor. .What should I do? Wait here or find another job!

The lay-off for Q4 has already begun. The company is getting sued by the US Department of Labor for $400 M, and will also lose $100M in government contracts. I've noticed teams of 16+ "Sales Consultants" disappearing within weeks, in the Santa Monica office. I would notice a whole group of 15 people being there at the beginning of the month and disappearing by the end of the month.
They would ask new college hires to relocate (50+ Miles from Michigan or the Midwest) and not provide relocation assistance, despite meeting all HR relocation policy guidelines. They had a hiring-freeze recently and decided to overhire this quarter, but due to the Q4 projections, they have begun letting people go.
I do admit, my co-workers and manager are nice, but the people making the decisions are not the brightest bunch, and often do immoral and illegal things. That's probably why they are always getting sued at least twice a year.
and they have billions of dollars in profits, doubt sacking 100k or 80 k guys will help!
lay offs in which division? US or India? which products not doing well? and when they lay off do they target 140K and leave the 80 K guys alone???
