This seems to me the logical move, especially if the story about it being sold turn out to be false. My question would be how many cuts could the move of DTV under the WM umbrella produce?

Speaking of service, a friend of mine complained to me today it took her 2 hours (!) to reach anyone in AT&T for a problem with U-verse. I asked her for the telephone number she dialed...it ends in -2020.
Back to DTV. I had thought the reason we bought it was for transport purposes, but I recall hearing from leadership they bought it for its large subscriber base.

They will have to make some move to either absorb or shed DTV given the paring down of resources in the last year.
Just in the last few months, they have announced no replacements for the two aging satellites due to be decommissioned later this year.
We have been cut back from as many as 8 different types of LNB (little electronic gizmo on the end of the dish arm) to now we only are allowed to have 2 types. We just last week turned in all standalone HD boxes, SD boxes and multiswitches used in commercial and high density or multiple receiver settings.
Bit by bit, our ability to field-engineer a system for specific clients has been eliminated - it's now Genie or nothing - as if this one size fits all - it doesn't. Heck, it barely works most days with the myriad of software bugs that infest the whole Genie and Genie 2 system.
Not a day goes by that I don't run into former customers of mine who had DTV for decades now telling me they cancelled their service because of how bad their service has become.
How can this company think that the current DTV customers who are becoming VERY aware that our level of service has severely degraded in the past couple of years are going to turn around in 2020 and say "why, yes, I'll buy your streaming product".
Illusions and delusions - too much high heat in Dallas has cooked a few brains.
Parts of Directv could be folded into WM. Mainly the content creation department, and since there is a new streaming product planned, then that part will have some play with WM created content.
