Severance Payments - have you signed and mailed?

Has anyone already signed and sent in their release agreement? If so, did you use the last day of employment date, or post dated to February 28th? Also did you consult a lawyer first?

TIA for responding.

I've heard that you can sign/date as of now since they consider the separation date to be the date you were walked-out, and Feb 28th as the termination date. I'm verifying this with HR though ....

@XzpjQFe-1hlf I haven't. Honestly haven't really looked at them. Probably will read today. I'll report back after I do. Haha

@XzpjQFe-uag - just curious what location are you in? Also, if you/your attorney are seeing anything that's standing out in the wording. Clearly HR can't answer ANY questions. Not even sure they know themselves..smh

@XzpjQFe-tkx - agreed it definitely does.

The WARN letter and date definitely add to the confusion.

I contacted an attorney. We are still reviewing the "wording" of the severance, the "WARN" act and else.

I just signed. I don’t think the date matters. You need to send it in sooner than later to start the severance package wheels in motion.

I just slapped my signature on and stuck that s---er in the mail. All that stuff about talking to a lawyer is for people that think they have a case or want to sue. I doubt the signature date makes any difference. They want us gone and they don't want us to sue them and they are willing to pay for it. If they had plans to trick us or hold out on the money they would just do it. I am just taking the money and moving on.

Wonder if signing after Feb 28th might be a good idea. There is a statement you are signing after your separation date. What if Feb 28th is your legal separation date and you sign before that date or on that date? TIA if anyone has a response.
