Reading some of these posts, I remember some of the fun I had in the auto industry for 15 years in eng.....test trips, visiting suppliers, doing interesting work, etc.....then I remember why I left. The gut wrenching identity politics, blame games, one-upmanship, and other office politics than just make it downright unbearable. Thanks for the reminder.

I'm sure there were teams in GM that were bad, filled with politics, and whatnot. I am thankful that my EGM and my whole team functioned as 'One Team.' We functioned as a unit, there were no big I's and little you's, no chest thumping. We did our jobs.
Easily the best team I've ever had the pleasure of being with.
I was mostly Chrysler and Visteon and a couple suppliers but some of the c-ap we did both on and off the clock was downright excessive. Most of the fun I had was with Chrysler....We'd go on cross-country road trips for climate control and engine cooling and I'd party just about at every town. Could care less what management on the trips thought. Take a few guys and go out in New Orleans for the night or go skinny dipping with female suppliers in Ft. Myers FL LOOOOL.....work hard, play hard. It's too anal now-a-days. Many good times though.
That doesn't sound like GM to me. I've worked for companies around the world for 45 years and am impressed by the consistent professional attitude and demeaner at GM. They have other unfortunate problems, but not that kind, at least at WTC.
Salary for GM Late 80s till mid 2000s. Had so much fun and the work all got done.
