Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

No car company did this to its workers the way GM did

There were always layoffs and there always will be, but to sacrifice the workers from the places where it all began, and with that sort of tradition is just sad. Have you ever heard that Toyota is laying off in huge amounts in Japan so it can displace the production to the US? I haven’t. Many companies have productions in other countries but I haven’t heard that any of them sacrificed their “core” workers to this extent. This is as sad as it gets.

Worked for the old GMAC. Laid off after 15 years. Toyota Credit hired many of us in Phoenix area. Almost like a reunion

If you make 20 million in salary, do you honestly care whether you run the company, or burn it into the ground? A beach and retirement is only a plane ride away.

The US used to bash the Japanese. Protectionism, "buy american", etc. But c-ap is c-ap and that mentality is bound to fail. @ysy, that Japanese CEO's attitude is why we're getting our arses kicked. The pay isn't out of control over there and there's a sense of accountability that we don't see here.

Gee, why are the Japanese kicking our asses? This Youtube video is a must see. Go apply at Toyota.

The professional GMI/Kettering executive corps bankrupted the place. Could the rest of us B and C level business types done any worse?
