I was a female developer. As far as I could see I didn't see any coordinated system supported by the company to discriminate against women. I was a good developer. I know there are a lot of clueless women in development, but I wasn't one of them.

There were people who sabotaged me the entire time I was there, but these people were not supported by the company, they were just misogynistic freaks who got their thrills by attacking women. Making up lies about them to get other male developers to participate.

There were people in the management that did support women and were fair in their treatment, but not enough to make a difference in my case. It'sh-- or miss in development, but I suspect that the misogynistic types are 80% of the development organization. So you are more likely to end up working for misogynistic managers and developers than not.

What the company does not do, is crack down on the misogyny. The guys in my area, could pretty much do anything they wanted to the female developers. And then there were a couple of disgusting women who I think were sleeping with their managers, totally incompetent bimbos.

A word to the women out there, try to behave like professional people doing real work. When you are female and you are a total ditz or if are sleeping with your manager, then you sabotage all of us. You become the crud that other people point to when they want to justify discrimination and sabotage.

The metrics, silly dials, outrageously complex tools and other mgmt bs is inflicted on the acquisitions. They don’t come in with that burden.

And then there’s MH, who was fired from HP over that starlet he hired and the expenses .... good luck with equal pay at oracle as long as he’s a co-ceo

@XctXrNz-1mrz not true. Certain areas of the company are extremely overpaid because of acquired companies. They know they cannot find another job after Oracle so they are trying to make up all kinds Bogus metrics and networking to justify their jobs. They bring nothing of value to Oracle but treat Oracle as a cash cow. Oracle needs to make the change now before its too late.

Everyone at the Big O is underpaid - except MH, LE, and SC.

Read the article. They take stuff into account not just stupid M-F averages. If H1B all males and must get hikes then that and sick O culture results in women paid less. No need to write out policy that could be evidence, just works out that way but not by accident.

there is no standard pay policy at Oracle that would systemically underpay women. it would come down to individual managers and given the makeup of the culture being highly oriented toward a culture that values women less, that could be a thing. however, if you are H1B, there are minimums that are required and even if no one gets raises, if the minimum shifts and you fall below it, you get a increase - a US citizen will not. That's the only systemic discrimination I know of - and its against US citizens. The ranges are so huge they are meaningless almost. We have many workers below range because the ranges adjust upwards each year and we all know salaries do not so we end up with a lot of people below range. there is no specific salary per job either. two people doing the same thing hired at the same time absolutely could be making different salaries and its not dependent on gender, it is dependent on what they asked for. I suppose I should read the study to determine if they actually took all the salaries for each position and averaged the amounts paid to men and women for jobs that actually were the same - not the same title because the variance in job duties by title is extreme as well. then adjust the average somehow to account for education experience and years of experience and performance (although subjective and arguable) and then maybe you could come up with an actual idea of whether there was a gender bias problem. There are a huge number of variables that need to be accounted for. Oracle absolutely has a problem with salaries but its biased against workers who are US citizens, who are loyal to the company and stay with the company for years and end up really getting the shaft.

"I saw my male colleagues get all sorts of promotions"

Promotions? At Oracle? Surely you jest.

No surprise to me as a former female employee. I saw my male colleagues get all sorts of promotions and recognitions when they, in fact, were doing nothing more than their normal jobs. I took on extremely difficult projects, handled much broader hardware lines - oh, and I actually had the advanced degree and published papers - only to be "retired out" at 2 levels lower than I had been at a previous "A team" company. That's what happens when you have directors and managers who are actually fairly ignorant of the actual products, do not care about facts or data or even solid RESULTS - only who they golf with or who cow-tows to them.

But notice how all the social media feeds have pretty young women in them. So if you are one and go there beware of shelf life expiration. Get a new job in another company based on networking from Oracle using you as fake picture of company.

The article also states: "Oracle’s median pay is significantly lower than other software companies such as Google, Microsoft, and Salesforce, according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission."
