You know so much go ahead and see if you can find someones IP. Unless you have a sniffer I seriously doubt you can find an IP. Only people who own the board know the IP's. Not many people have the technical ability to do what you are talking about.
Just because it says you can post anonymously, doesn't mean there is anything illegal to post IP addresses or post the identities of the posters. I'm not implying the website does it, I mean posters can track you. It's fairly simple.
For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. You choose to post comments as keyboard warriors, and others can also choose to post your IP address and identity..It's simple...You all feel safe under the guise of anonymity..Geolocation is very real, and works, among other tools available online to ID posters. Having worked in IT and computer forensics, it's a lot less complicated than you think..
