Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Layoffs on February 28

Now I've heard from two different people something might be happening next Thursday. I'm hoping it's not true, though, because I honestly believe we can't afford to lose one more person in our department unless they plan to close us all together.

Has anybody here heard anything about it?

Very quiet today, but realistically inside XBS we have been expecting something in March before the end of the quarter so the savings can kick in for the second quarter.

@XJkxe8M-6xvf - Just be on the lookout for consultants who show up at your office under the guise of Best Practice Sharing. Best Practice Sharing = Show me your process so I can document it and give it to a nice Guatemalan woman to perform. This may not happen in the next 3-6 months, but by late summer I would be on the lookout for shiny rental cars parked in the visitor spot outside of your building, and consultants working out of your conference room. That would be your sign.

Thanks to @XJkxe8M-5lvc for the insight. Do you know a timeline for when this process might start? I am in one of the XBS cores and we are wondering what departments might be affected and when we will start to see this change take place. Can you give an example of what a back-office task that could be defined by a process would be?

For those in the XBS channel or those within Xerox who haven't come across the term Shared Services Center. That is what HCL is. They are a Shared Services Outsourcing firm. (https://www.hcltech.com/) . They are about the same size as Xerox with $9 billion in annual revenue. If you have a back-office task that can be defined by a process, they will take that process and have someone in another country perform that process at a fraction of the price. They are based out of India and operate in 44 countries worldwide. If you want to outsource process work to a 3rd party and pay them like contractors, this is what HCL does. Once US-based salaried Xerox jobs are transferred to HCL on a contract basis, it provides a lot of flexibility for Xerox to shed the contract when they ultimately sell the company to HP or Fuji. Firing salaried US employees is hard. Canceling a shared services agreement with HCL is easy. This is why we are seeing the move to HCL.

This is all true. The they will be sending JLL out to more locations to size up the remaining XBS offices and determine what to do with the location. They will be moving contracting, admin and back end staff to HCL with "similar " pay and benefits. The way global management has gone about this is truly ugly. It's been communicated in such a convoluted manner, and thus insulting to all staff. This has only intensified the fear in our employees and its despicable. Transparaency in their message and directive from Visentin would at least leave global with some integrity in the way they choose to do business with not only employees, but customers as well. Yes, businesses make decisions to close locations, and RIF all the time, but the execution of this is a dumpster fire of incompetence.

We heard they are going to send in people from HCL to rebadge admin departments and then we get to train them so they can outsource our jobs. So in rebadging us to HCL, we are no longer under Xerox therefore no more severance when the next layoffs come.

After the round in late 2018/ early 2019, workers that were cut were told that more were coming in February. Stupid to tell them that as that just shows the inexperience of management. Keep you heads down as I know me and my teammates here out in xBS land are though we know they'll find us anyway.

Layoffs have been happening daily within XBS as offices have been closed. I don't think a specific date is going to change anything. There will be layoffs on the 28th, just as there have been on the 27th, 26th, and so on
