‘A very real threat’

Oracle argued that “there is a very real threat to its competitive position” if its workforce diversity were to be exposed. Any such advantage to a competitor, Oracle argued, “may have a very significant and detrimental impact on Oracle’s business.”

So watch out, investors – the competitive positions of Oracle, Palantir and Pandora are about to take a big hit. That’s if you believe the companies’ arguments that releasing their diversity numbers will cause “substantial competitive harm.”

Thanks to our lawsuit, we now know that just under 13 percent of Oracle’s executives in 2015 were women, including co-CEO Safra Catz. Two-thirds of major Silicon Valley companies had a better representation of female executives that year. And like Palantir, Oracle’s workforce was 90 percent white and Asian.

13% in 2015? Makes me wonder if that number is even lower today. I bet a lot of them were given severance packages. They probably hit a salary cap, and we all know the rumor that MH does not like women over 40.

One of the things that really bothers me is how all these tech companies won’t talk about their diversity numbers but then pledge to make right by bringing figurehead women in at the upper levels. How in any way will this actually help us women in the field? Those women didn’t work their way up the ranks, experiencing what we have to experience everyday as the only woman on our teams or in every internal meeting we attend? They will never interact with us or help us enact real change. The reason to have more women throughout the company in management roles is that they have theoretically worked their way up from the bottom and can help other women with mentoring, advice and by voicing their experiences to upper management.

We aren’t asking for a free play, just a more equal playing field. Give us a referee whose actually watching the game, not schmoozing the commissioner. Most of us just want a foul to be called a foul and not run roughshod over because we wear our jockstrap between our shoulders and not our hips. Somehow, every one of my sales engineers appreciated my hard work, my sense of humor and dedication to learning. They made my time at Oracle bearable until they were taken away from me.

Count me as one of the chosen ones too.

Well, yeah, next people may want to know how many DCs oracle actually has for all these great cloud offerings - answer: none; how much oracle actually generates in cloud revenues - answer: much less than oracle gives the impression of, who knows where it could all end. Oh, the tangled web they weave when they practice to deceive

Trade secret because (1) maybe highly skilled people with many choices would not want to work in place that is so medieval (2) customers might just say no if facts were made public
