Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Who wants to bet?

Now that Global Operations have been hit right after Thanksgiving, I'm willing to bet that's just a start and we'll see many more announcement between now and Christmas.

I was hoping holidays would deter them for at least a while but apparently there's no stopping the layoffs train. Good luck all.

You lost another bet loser. Dad called and said he only made $15 last night and you weren't the one.

Just love the comment that the person will take their layoff and never return. Duh, there is nothing to return to

I for one am going to get my layoff notice and walk out of this place and never return. This place sold nothing but pipe dreams but the reality is that of total unorganized and heartless let down. Day after day after day day after day year after year. The union blows smoke where the sun doesn’t shine, the company gets their way and the T Rates got the shaft time and time again to protect the d rate legacy members and pay and pension. I can not wait till I get my slip so I can hit the egg nog hard and don’t have to work with those unskilled managers who are under paid and over worked but they do it thinking they also have a career. Ha ha ha

I have worked in a lot of places where the layoffs have traditionally been at year end. My understanding is that there are some tax benefits to this? Perhaps some accountant or lawyer can shed some light on whether this is true or not. I do wonder how many of these "layoffs" are actually conversions to contract employees like previous RIFs.

Why spare anyone this year? They hit people last year right after Thanksgiving giving those affected the happiest of f---ng holidays.

Instead of Bing Crosby’s “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” everyone is instead going to be living Drowning Pool’s song “Let the Bodies Hit the Floor.” Or more slightly adjusted to be “Hit the Door.”
