Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Transformation

I get the transformation, and I get the need for new skills. However, shouldn't the strategic "people deal" have a plan for the company to have the skills for it to succeed in the future? I also get that personal development is an individual responsibility and so it's irrelevant that my manager has given no guidance on my need for new skills throughout the transformation. Given this, has the training department been LR'd too (as it's clearly failing)?

Cisco is cancelling it's certification programs. It was already announced to key insiders.

It doesn't matter what skills you have. It doesn't matter if your group develops the best most state of the art product. You will get LR'd and Cisco will buy a startup to replace your team. But, don't worry the startup people won't last long at Cisco either.

"what you can do for Cisco to make it succeed"

How about a suggestion?

Fire SVPs and above for any major decisions that have not increased the top line? I am yet to see a major Cisco acquisition that has been stellar.

Yes, a big of certification team including CCIE proctors has been LR'ed. Ask not what Cisco can do for you - ask what you can do for Cisco to make it succeed.
