Walmart recently announced the end of their Savings Catcher at the end of October unless you install their app for Walmart Pay on your smart phone. This will result in losing customers and here is why.
The savings catcher program replaced the "price match" guarantee program that they use to have. With their new requirements of having to use the app to pay for your items in Walmart, instead of cash, credit or ATM to use the savings catcher program, they will loose customers.
Many message boards across the internet have active discussions about how many people will not be shopping there and will instead use other grocery stores close by. So Walmart will loose grocery shoppers first.
When I am in the checkout line, you would not believe how many people pay with cash, about 70% of them do. Mostly retired people and general laborers like farmers and construction workers use cash since smaller companies pay their employees the old fashion way - in cash. These cash customers will be the next customers that Walmart will loose.
No more price matching for cash or ATM customers? Many other companies are now offering price matching, some offering 5% or 10% lower to get you in the door.
