McKinsey report could have been misused, it's all about the execution - hot off the press:

@VnUaZ8Q-3rhf I agree partially with you, Mckinsey will go and look at all the fabs in the world and find what is being efficient and recommend to the SLT here and SLT then decides what needs to be done. Now, why would GF get Mckinsey's services if GF SLT was so smart to implement it. If now after paying Mckinsey a big chunk of money SLT decides not to implement their recommendations then again SLT should be fired because not only are they incompetent but are wasting money. @VnUaZ8Q-4cbb I think GF is probably playing a big game here, I don't think they were ever out of system, they were always bound to come back. Looking at those senior levels back it almost seems that nothing ever happened. They just got a free one month paid vacation and to stay hush. It would be really strange that the SLT did not realize the gap of the re-hired senior levels during all these months of preparation of layoff and suddenly one month out of the layoffs and they realize what a huge gap it was, again funny business going on here, just like white-house working like a well oiled machine. Can you just sell it off to one of money making foundries. Again the greedy IBM SLT will try to make a huge cash before bailing out. You can even see the green nose of the SLT.
Did McKinsey to tell to re hire Managers/Senior level guys back ??
I hear “McKinsey ordered that, McKinsey said this…”
Any consultant would deliver whatever the client has ordered to. If SoW (Statement of Work) was to grow the business and to gain the market share, then McKinsey would come up with justification for hiring/relocating more experts and expending the capacity. Consulting is not accountable for the business decisions nor for the consequences, that’s all up to the leadership team. That’s brings us to root cause of the problem.
Considering maturity level of 14nm node and how long has it been around, is there really significant work remaining to done?
I know GF did hire that company (I am not original poster). I don’t know anymore than that. I know they said no more layoffs this year
Can I ask how you know this? Is there a verifiable source? Else what you are doing is just causing panic..
Fab8 is a rotating door, hard working, experienced and expensive employees are being replaced by friends and family, relevant experience is always optional.
Fab8 should be an HBR case study on how not to do things. Of course, McKinsey loves Fab8!
New hires start each week at fab 8
Noone will know total count :) IBM playing same trick for a long time. Total reamining employee count never announced
what is the FAB8 head count now? ~2500?
To be executed in February or people notified in November with a 90 day package?
😂😂🤣😂😂
Hilarious!

The statement at Globalcast was no more layoffs in Malta in 2018.
Feb 2019 is whole new game and was not specifically ruled out by TC. Malta will be a sustaining fab with non place from development guys. It is all about cost, efficiency, and gross margins.
