@Vf3vvHt-5rva,

It isn't about context. The workplace is about competences, knowledge and skills. You can earn a piece of paper that says you're an MBA. If after getting that piece of paper you still don't have the typical skills, knowledge and competences of an average MBA, you won't succeed at your MBA interview/job. UOP and the other for-profits went the wrong way when they decided to admit folks who couldn't possibly do the work necessary to become as competent or knowledgeable as average people attending average (non for-profit) programs.

Do they really? It’s all about context and student body. Do underserved populations not deserve an education. Should we also eliminate community colleges too since we know there graduation rates are awful.

Doesn't seem correct to analyze the situation without considering the quality of the students. Most for-profit students wouldn't even score high enough in the SAT or GMAT to earn admission into a public university program. A significant portion of UOP students are weekend warriors, spending little if any time in their studies during weekdays, expecting to learn everything in a few hours on Saturdays and Sundays. Yeah, just like students are public universities. /s

So, the article (and the paper?) claim we should “not blame the students” (which even Camden has to agree are different at say ASU and Phoenix), only to not say a peep about why that’s not so??
