Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Having knowledge has become a liability

They are getting rid of the knowledgeable people first. The management doesn't like having anyone around that knows anything and can contradict them. Managers lack the basic understanding of how anything works and so they make the assumption in their heads, that one developer is just as good as another. Doesn't work that way.

Any DOA project you see.... someone left or was forced to leave that was needed... then the management flounders around making up excuses for themselves and blaming the people that are left. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

This was originally posted by @VJVsutY-2nvy . I think this is the bitter truth. The more you have knowledge, the more they see you as someone who can endanger them.

It's not like what you said here. The lowest performers are cut off firstly.

at @VMA7xX8, when you say DOA, you must mean the Dead On Arrival cloud contracts that have been signed where the customer had no intention to implement? Oh and it didn't hurt that the sales people were paid 7X multiplier.

The goal of the current dev management, is not to correct problems and create good products.... the goal is simply to be the last manager standing after the carnage. It's every "man"-ager for him or herself at this point. Some of these people are absolutely sure they cannot get another job and are absolutely desperate to stay. They will do anything to anyone they need to, to be the last man standing.
